Rugby League Conference Yorkshire Premier
The Rugby League Conference Yorkshire Premier is a division in the Rugby League Conference for teams in the Yorkshire area. It was first contested in 2008 following the break-up of the previous North Premier into the North West and Yorkshire Premiers. History The Rugby League Conference was born in 1997 as the Southern Conference, a 10-team pilot league for teams in the South of England and English Midlands. Rotherham Giants became the first Yorkshire-based team to join when they entered the Northern division in 2000. Other teams followed playing in the North East and North Midlands divisions until a Yorkshire division was created in 2004. The Premier Division were set up in 2005 for teams who had achieved a certain playing standard and were able to travel further afield to find stronger opposition. Rugby League Conference
The Rugby League Conference (RLC) (also known as the Co-operative Rugby League Conference as a result of sponsorship from The Co-operative Group), was a series of regionally based divisions of amateur rugby league teams spread throughout England, Scotland and Wales. The RLC was founded as the 10-team Southern Conference League in 1997, with teams from the southern midlands and the south east, but has subsequently, rebranded and expanded both geographically and numerically to include around 90 teams stretched across almost the whole of Great Britain from Aberdeen in northern Scotland down to Plymouth on the south coast of England. The aim of the RLC was initially to provide regular fixtures for new clubs based outside the 'heartland' of rugby league, although as the playing standards increased, it also accepted teams from the 'heartlands'. Haworth Park was a rugby league team based in Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. They play in the Yorkshire Premier division of the Rugby League Conference with their A-team taking part in the Yorkshire & Humber Merit League. York Lokomotive are a rugby league team based in York, North Yorkshire. They play in the Yorkshire Premier division of the Rugby League Conference. History ''York Lokomotive'' were founded in 2008 as a joint-venture between York Groves rugby league team and the York Railway Institute sporting club. The name of the club was taken from York being one of the biggest railway cities in England. One of the biggest steam railway depots in the UK was based in York and was known as "York Locomotive". Scarborough Pirates ARLFC was the name of an amateur rugby league team which competed in the Rugby League Conference Yorkshire Premier and British Amateur Rugby League Association winter leagues. Moorends-Thorne Marauders RLFC
Moorends-Thorne Marauders RLFC is a rugby league club based in Thorne, Doncaster, South Yorkshire. They play in the Yorkshire Premier of the Rugby League Conference during the summer and in the Premier Division of the CMS Yorkshire league during the winter. They also have an A_team in the Yorkshire & Humber Merit League. Two cultures come together In 2003 the amateur game in the North East of Doncaster was dying slowly, a few ex-Moorends ARLFC players and committee men got together to form Thorne Moor Marauders to play in the RLC. In preparation for the 2004 season, they targeted local soccer and rugby union players and soon had a squad of over 40 players training - including 7 Moorends and 2 Doncaster Toll Bar amateur players.
