Royal Swedish Academy Of War Sciences
The Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences ( sv, Kungliga Krigsvetenskapsakademien) is one of the Royal Academies in Sweden and was founded on 12 November 1796 by Gustaf Wilhelm af Tibell. The academy is an independent organization and a forum for military (army and air force) and defense studies as well as national security issues. Membership is limited to 160 chairs under the age of 62. The Royal Academies are independent organizations, founded on Royal command, that act to promote the arts, culture, and science in Sweden. The Swedish Academy and Academy of Sciences are also responsible for the selection of Nobel Prize laureates in Literature, Physics, Chemistry, and the Prize in Economic Sciences. Lieutenant General Carl ''Gunnar'' Eklund (21 March 1920 – 11 January 2010) was a senior Swedish Coastal Artillery officer. Lieutenant General Dick Stenberg (21 January 1921 – 27 September 2004) was a Swedish Air Force officer. Stenberg was commissioned as an officer in 1942 and was later the commanding officer of Södertörn Wing and Chief of the Air Staff. Stenberg ended his military career with the position of Chief of the Air Force from 1973 to 1982. Lieutenant General Per-Ove Poul Ljung (18 May 1918 – 31 May 1997) was a Swedish Army officer. Admiral Bengt Gustaf Gottfrid Lundvall (30 October 1915 – 30 November 2010) was a senior Swedish Navy officer. He was Chief of the Navy from 1970 to 1978. General Lage Gustaf Harald Thunberg (22 March 1905 – 28 September 1997) was a Swedish Air Force officer. He was the Chief of the Air Force from 1961 to 1968.
