Dick Stenberg
Lieutenant General Dick Stenberg (21 January 1921 – 27 September 2004) was a Swedish Air Force officer. Stenberg was commissioned as an officer in 1942 and was later the commanding officer of Södertörn Wing and Chief of the Air Staff. Stenberg ended his military career with the position of Chief of the Air Force from 1973 to 1982. Early life Stenberg was born on 21 January 1921 in Falun, Sweden, the son of Karl ''Edvard'' Stenberg, a foreman, and his wife Karin (née Olofsson). He passed ''studentexamen'' at the Higher General Grammar School for Boys in Södermalm (Södra Latin) in Stockholm on 10 May 1939. Stenberg became an officer aspirant in the Swedish Air Force on 16 June 1939 and was commissioned as an officer with the rank of second lieutenant on 24 March 1942. Falun
Falun () is a city and the seat of Falun Municipality in Dalarna County, Sweden, with 37,291 inhabitants in 2010. It is also the capital of Dalarna County. Falun forms, together with Borlänge, a metropolitan area with just over 100,000 inhabitants. Falun was originally famous for its copper mine, and is today an important service and industrial city even though the mine is closed (since 1992). Faluån is a river, flowing through the city, separating it into two sides. Falu copper mine is located on one of the sides which during many centuries was one of Sweden's main business. This side of the river was usually called "the mining side", where not many plants grew due to the toxic smoke which contaminated the soil. The Swedish Air Force Museum ( sv, Flygvapenmuseum) is located at Malmen Airbase in Malmslätt, just outside Linköping, Sweden. The Saab 37 Viggen (Swedish for ''"the Bolt"'' or ''"the Tufted Duck"'' ( see name)) is a retired Swedish single-seat, single-engine, short-medium range combat aircraft. Career Lampell was born on 18 December 1920 in Södertälje, Sweden, the son of Hjalmar Lampell, a merchant, and his wife Tyra (née Berglund).
