Oregon Route 413 (OR 413) is an Oregon state highway running from Cornucopia to Halfway. OR 413 is known as the Halfway-Cornucopia Highway No. 413 (see Oregon highways and routes). It is long and runs northwest to southeast, entirely within Baker County. OR 413 was established in 2003 as part of Oregon's project to assign route numbers to highways that previously were not assigned, and, as of July 2017, was unsigned. Route description OR 413 begins at Elk Creek in Cornucopia and heads southeast through Carson and Jimtown to Halfway, where it ends at an intersection with OR 414 and OR 86 Spur. Its northernmost are unpaved and narrow, and is closed by snow in the winter. History The Halfway-Cornucopia Highway was established in 1935 with the division of the old Baker-Cornucopia Highway into the Baker-Halfway Highway No. 12 and the Halfway-Cornucopia Highway. Hells Canyon Dam
Hells Canyon Dam is a concrete gravity dam in the western United States, on the Snake River in Hells Canyon along the Idaho-Oregon border. At river mile 247, the dam impounds Hells Canyon Reservoir; its spillway elevation is above sea level. It is the third and final hydroelectric dam of the Hells Canyon Project, which includes Brownlee Dam (1959) and Oxbow Dam (1961), all built and operated by Idaho Power Company. Jimtown, Oregon
Jimtown is an unincorporated community in Baker County, Oregon, United States. It is about two miles northwest of Halfway, on Oregon Route 413. Carson, Oregon
Carson is an unincorporated community in Baker County, in the U.S. state of Oregon, along Oregon Route 413 about northwest of Halfway. In 1870 Tom Corson settled in the area on a tributary of Pine Creek. His neighbors pronounced his name "Carson" and named the tributary and a sawmill on the creek after him. When the post office was established in 1893, it was named "Carson" as well. Baker County, Oregon
Baker County is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the population was 16,668. The county seat and largest city is Baker City. The county was organized on September 22, 1862, when a portion of Wasco County was partitioned off. The new county's area was reduced in 1864 when Union County was partitioned off, and again in 1887 when Malheur County was partitioned off. The county's lines were last adjusted in 1901 when a parcel was added to the county. Baker County was named for Edward Dickinson Baker, a senator from Oregon who was killed at Ball's Bluff, a battle of the Civil War in Virginia in 1861.
