Roomrunner was a noise rock group from Baltimore, Maryland, fronted by Denny Bowen, formerly of Double Dagger (band), Double Dagger, Yukon (band), Yukon, and Dan Deacon, The Dan Deacon Ensemble. The group also included prominent Baltimore recording engineer Dan Frome on bass. Past members have included Bowen's one-time Yukon (band), Yukon bandmate Sam Garrett, and John Jones, who went on to join Dope Body. To date, they have released a cassette tape and an Extended play, EP on Fan Death Records and have toured North America, playing with the likes of Dan Deacon, Future of the Left, and METZ. The name Roomrunner comes from the wasei Japanese word used for "treadmill." The band's sound has been described as "a conscious effort to revive the fuzz and feedback-laden churn of early-1990s indie rock. . . [but] theirs is a more ebullient take on the genre." Fan Death Records is an independent record label based in Baltimore, Maryland, and Montreal, Quebec. The label is operated by Sean Gray, Chris Berry, and Tracy Soo-Ming. Fan Death is affiliated with DNA Test Fest, a noise rock and experimental music festival held in Baltimore every year. Dope Body
Dope Body is an American rock band from Baltimore, Maryland, United States. They formed in 2008 by vocalist Andrew Laumann, guitarist/bassist Zachary Utz, and drummer David Jacober. They released four albums in addition to a cassette tape and two split records. They expanded to a quartet, adding bassist Jesse Lyell in 2011, who was replaced by John Jones, late of local contemporaries Roomrunner, the next year. History All natives of the Baltimore area, Dope Body, named for a quote from an online video the band enjoyed, originally came together in 2008 for a one-off show at Baltimore's Natural History museum space, while Andrew Laumann was located in San Francisco. The show was very successful, and the band continued, with Laumann soon moving back to Baltimore and the group releasing the ''Twenty Pound Brick'' cassette the next year. Double Dagger (band)
Double Dagger is a post-punk trio from Baltimore, Maryland composed of only drums, vocals, and a very loud bass guitar which fills the space a guitar would normally take. Vocalist Nolen Strals and bassist Bruce Willen also comprised the graphic design team Post Typography, which has done work for some very high-profile clients, including ''The New York Times''. Hence, Double Dagger made a habit of referring to their style of post-hardcore as "graphicdesigncore" early in their career. In October 2011, Double Dagger officially broke up after a small final tour, but has since reunited occasionally for one-off shows.
