Romy Kermer
Romy Kermer (later Oesterreich; born 28 July 1956) is a German figure skating coach and former competitive pair skater. With Rolf Oesterreich, she is the 1976 Olympic silver medalist. Personal life Romy Kermer was born on 28 July 1956 in Karl-Marx-Stadt (Chemnitz), Bezirk Karl-Marx-Stadt, East Germany. After marrying Rolf Oesterreich in late 1976, she changed her name to Romy Oesterreich. Career Romy Kermer began skating in Karl-Marx-Stadt, where she became a pair skater. Early in her career, she competed with Tassilo Thierbach and Andreas Forner. 1972 she moved to Berlin and skated there at the club SC Dynamo Berlin. Her coach was Heidemarie Seiner-Walther. She continued to represent SC Karl-Marx-Stadt until 1973, when she changed clubs as well. Her pair skating partner became Rolf Oesterreich. The East German Figure Skating Championships were a figure skating competition held annually to determine the national champions of the German Democratic Republic, often referred to as ''East Germany''. Skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Organized by the DELV (the national figure skating association of the GDR), the event was held annually from 1949 to 1990. During the same period, the German Figure Skating Championships were held in the Federal Republic of Germany, commonly known as ''West Germany''. Philipp Tischendorf (born 7 June 1988) is a German former competitive figure skater. He is the 2007 German national silver medalist and competed at two ISU Championships. Personal life Philipp Tischendorf was born on 7 June 1988 in Berlin, Germany. In 1994, he began attending the Werner-Seelenbinder-School in Berlin, a special school for sportsmen. His mother was a gymnast, his father played volleyball in the second highest league in East Germany, his brother Robert played football for BFC Dynamo Berlin, and his sister Nadine and brother Max practiced figure skating. Career Tischendorf was introduced to figure skating at age three and a half by his sister Nadine, who is 11 years his elder. Early in his career, he was coached by Jürgen Bertko. Heidemarie Steiner
Heidemarie Steiner married Walther, (born 9 May 1944 in Kolberg, Province of Pomerania) is a German figure skating coach and former competitor. She competed in pair skating and ladies singles. Steiner began as a single skater. But when she dropped behind fellow East German Gabriele Seyfert, she wanted to retire early. However, she changed to pair skating and teamed up with Heinz-Ulrich Walther, who also became her husband in 1969. Their greatest success was winning the bronze medal at the 1970 World Championships in Ljubljana. The pair trained at the SC Dynamo Berlin club and represented East Germany. Their coach was Heinz-Friedrich Lindner. After she retired, she became figure skating coach at the SC Dynamo Berlin club (today SC Berlin). SC Dynamo Berlin
The Sports Club Dynamo Berlin was an East German sports club that existed from 1954 to 1991. It was the largest sports club of SV Dynamo, the sports association of the security agencies. The club was disbanded after German reunification and eventually succeeded by sports club SC Berlin. Sporting spectrum The sports club offered the following kinds of sport in the 1980s: team handball, athletics, gymnastics, cycling, speed skating, racewalking, figure skating, ice hockey, fencing, boxing, and volleyball.
