Romany Jones
''Romany Jones'' is a British sitcom made by London Weekend Television, broadcast between 1972 and 1975, involving the comic misadventures of two layabout families living on a caravan site. The show was designed as a vehicle for James BeckJames Beck played the black market spiv Private Walker in the ''Dad's Army'' and also featured Arthur Mullard and Queenie Watts as Wally and Lily Briggs. Following Beck's death in August 1973, Bert and Betty Jones were written out of the series. Jonathan Cecil and Gay Soper took over the lead roles, playing new neighbours, Jeremy and Susan Crichton-Jones. The show's pilot episode had been made by Thames Television and broadcast in 1972. It was followed by a spin-off sequel in 1976 entitled ''Yus, My Dear'', starring Mullard and Watts. Ronald Chesney
Ronald Chesney (born René Lucien Cadier; 4 May 1920 – 12 April 2018) and Ronald Wolfe (born Harvey Ronald Wolfe-Luberoff; 8 August 1922 – 18 December 2011) were British television comedy scriptwriters, best known for their 1960s and 1970s sitcoms ''The Rag Trade'' (1961–63, 1977–78), '' Meet the Wife'' (1963–66), ''On the Buses'' (1969–73) and ''Romany Jones'' (1972–75). When their partnership began in the mid-1950s, Chesney was already known to the public as a harmonica player. Christopher Franklin Boucher (15 February 1943 – 11 December 2022) was a British television screenwriter, script editor and novelist. He is known for his frequent contributions to two genres, Science fiction on television, science fiction and crime fiction, and worked on the series ''Doctor Who'', ''Blake's 7'', ''Shoestring (TV series), Shoestring'', ''Bergerac (TV series), Bergerac'', ''The Bill'' and ''Star Cops''. Early life Boucher was born on 15 February 1943 in Maldon, Essex. Prior to becoming a television writer, Boucher worked at Calor Gas as a management trainee and gained a Bachelor of Arts in economics at the University of Essex. ''Holiday on the Buses'' is a 1973 British comedy film directed by Bryan Izzard and starring Reg Varney and Doris Hare. The film is the third and final spin-off film from the ITV sitcom ''On the Buses'' and succeeded the films ''On the Buses'' (1971) and ''Mutiny on the Buses'' (1972). The film was produced by Ronald Chesney and Ronald Wolfe for Hammer Films. A fourth film was originally planned but cancelled. Arthur Leslie Norman English (9 May 1919 – 16 April 1995) was an English television, film and stage actor and comedian from the music hall tradition. Peter John Denyer (20 August 1947 – 18 September 2009) was an English actor who played Dennis Dunstable in London Weekend Television's ''Please Sir!'', and its spin-off series ''The Fenn Street Gang'', taking on the role of a teenager when already into his 20s.
