Alexander Igorevich Rybak (russian: Александр Игоревич Рыбак) or Alyaxandr Iharavich Rybak ( be, Аляксандр Ігаравіч Рыбак; born 13 May 1986) is a Belarusian-Norwegian singer-composer, violinist, pianist and actor. Based in Oslo, Rybak extensively worked on television programs and on tours in Norway, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Sweden throughout the early 2010s. Singing in mainly English, Russian and Norwegian, Rybak, in his early twenties, held on to a teen idol status in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, and to a certain extent in Western Asia. "Fairytale" is a song written and performed by Belarusian-Norwegian violinist and singer Alexander Rybak. It is the first single from his debut album ''Fairytales''. Timoteij were a Swedish ethnopop group established in 2008. The group originally consisted of four women, Cecilia Kallin, Bodil Bergström, Elina Thorsell and Johanna Pettersson, all born in 1991. ''Fairytales'' is the debut studio album by the Belarusian-Norwegian artist Alexander Rybak. It was released in Norway and most of Europe on 29 May 2009, and in the UK on 15 June. Most of the songs on the album are written and/or composed by Rybak himself. The first single of this album is Rybak's "Fairytale", the winning song from the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. His entry broke the previous record of 292 in the festival and achieved a total of 387 points. All the participating countries (naturally excluding Norway) voted for the song. Rybak wrote English lyrics for one Russian and one Norwegian song, for the album.
