2017 WPA World Nine-ball Championship
The 2017 WPA World Nine-ball Championship was the 26th edition of the 9-Ball pool World Championships. It took place from December 9 to 14, 2017 in the al-Attiya Sports Arena of the Al-Arabi Sports Club in Doha. The Qatari capital was the eighth time in a row the venue for the 9-Ball Championships. The championship was won by Filipino Carlo Biado, who defeated his compatriot Roland Garcia 13–5 in the final. Third place went to Taiwanese Wu Kun-lin and fourth to Albanian Eklent Kaçi. Defending champion was the Austrian Albin Ouschan, who lost in the second round against Kun-lin. The world number one Chang Jung-Lin was defeated in the round of the last 64 of the Canadian John Morra. Qualification The tournament is attended by 128 players. 24 players qualified over the world rankings. Magalang, officially the Municipality of Magalang ( pam, Balen ning Magalang; tl, Bayan ng Magalang), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Pampanga, Philippines. Carlo Biado
Carlo Biado (born October 31, 1983) is a Filipino professional pool player. Early life Biado has roots in Rosario, La Union and/or Nueva Ecija. He started playing pool when he was age 13 and worked as a caddie at the Villamor Air Base golf course while he was still a student. After work he would play billiards in the evening. He stopped pursuing high school education when he was on his first year and the sport serves as a means of livelihood. He earned money from bets in the billiards place he helps manage. Career Biado became a professional pool player in 2004 but failed to win any major world title within his first ten years. In 2015, Biado reached the final of the WPA World Ten-ball Championship, defeating David Alcaide and Nikos Ekonomopoulos in the knockout rounds.
