Rodrigo González (musician)
Rodrigo "Rod" Andrés González Espíndola (born 19 May 1968) is a Chilean-born German musician known as the bassist and one of the singers of German rock band Die Ärzte. Early life González' parents were politically persecuted in Chile during the Pinochet dictatorship, and so were granted asylum in Hamburg. His family initially lived there on social benefits until his father found work. He completed his '' Abitur'' (school-leaving exams) at the Gymnasium Langenhorn. He has an older sister, Claudia, who also works as a musician (Universal González). As a teenager, González was a member of the band Die Erben. From 1986 to 1988, he played banjo in the Hamburg punk band Die Goldenen Zitronen, and from 1988 to 1989 he was the guitarist in the Rainbirds. "Dinge von denen" (Things of which) is a song by German rock Die Ärzte. It is the fifth track on the first CD and the second single from their 2003 album ''Geräusch''. It is about the singers dislike for hearing about other peoples ailments such as gross details that result from a medical condition, or complaints they have with other people. Music video The music video is a parody of German 1970s music shows similar to ''Top of the Pops''. It is in black-and-white and was shot on a reconstructed set of the German game show ''Dalli, Dalli'' (''Hurry, hurry''). In reference to ''Dalli, Dalli'' host Hans Rosenthal the host in the music video uses Rosenthal's catchphrase at the end: "So, wir sind der Meinung, das war spitze" (''Well, in our opinion it was great''), Like Rosental the host then jumps into the air and the picture freezes. Wattenscheid
Wattenscheid () is a Stadtbezirk of the city of Bochum. Until 1975, it was a separate town in the Ruhr area of North Rhine-Westphalia. Wattenscheid has a population of about 80,000 citizens. Some notable firms have their headquarters in there, such as Steilmann. History Wattenscheid is first mentioned in a church document from Werden Abbey (Kloster Werden in Essen) in AD 880, by the name of Villa Uattanscethe. The oldest church in Wattenscheid, St. Gertrud von Brabant, was built in the 9th century. From 1554, Wattenscheid was a member of the Hanseatic League. During the Thirty Years' War, the area was occupied by Spanish troops from 1623 to 1629. In 1633, imperial auxiliary troops plundered Wattenscheid, before Hessian and Swedish troops arrived. Die Kassierer ("The Cashiers"), also Die mächtigen Kassierer ("The Mighty Cashiers"), are a satirical punk band from Bochum-Wattenscheid, Germany. The group was founded in 1985 by Wolfgang Wendland (vocals), Nikolai Sonnenscheiße (guitar), Volker Kampfgarten (drums, jazz guitar) and Mitch Maestro (bass guitar). Bee Gees
The Bee Gees were a musical group formed in 1958 by brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were especially successful in popular music in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and later as prominent performers in the disco music era in the mid-to-late 1970s. Slime (band)
Slime is an extreme leftwing German punk rock band founded in Hamburg in 1979. They developed upon the straightforward style of late 70's British punk to create complex song structures with layered and cryptic texts, becoming one of the defining bands of the 1980s German punk scene. During their growing success, Slime became the subject of controversy as they were accused of "selling out". The band has dissolved and reunited twice from 1984-2009; often coming back together to address rising social issues (e.g. Hoyerswerda riots, Rostock-Lichtenhagen riots) with great commercial success and continue to produce music to the present day.
