Rod Blum
Rodney Leland Blum (; born April 26, 1955) is an American businessman and politician who served as the U.S. representative for Iowa's 1st congressional district from 2015 to 2019. A member of the Republican Party, he was first elected in 2014 and won a second term in the 2016 elections. Blum was defeated for reelection in 2018 by Democrat Abby Finkenauer. He has described himself as a member of the Tea Party movement. Career Blum attended Loras College, where he earned a degree in finance, and the University of Dubuque, where he earned a master's degree in business administration. Pat Murphy (Iowa Politician)
Patrick Joseph Murphy (born August 24, 1959) is an American politician who served as Iowa State Representative from the 99th District and Speaker of the Iowa House of Representatives; Murphy was also the Democratic nominee for Iowa's 1st congressional district in 2014. The Freedom Caucus, also known as the House Freedom Caucus, is a congressional caucus consisting of conservative Republican members of the United States House of Representatives. A write-in candidate is a candidate whose name does not appear on the ballot but seeks election by asking voters to cast a vote for the candidate by physically writing in the person's name on the ballot.
