Robotech 3000
''Robotech 3000'' was Harmony Gold's attempt to revive the ''Robotech'' franchise before the turn of the millennium. After the relative success of '' Voltron: The Third Dimension'' and '' Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles'', a new ''Robotech'' sequel was proposed that would use 3D CG visuals, with producer Jason Netter and writer Carl Macek at the helm. Story and development The story was based during an era of peace under an interplanetary federation a thousand years in the future, to avoid conflicts with ''Robotechs complex continuity. Some of the new concepts presented were Veritech Excavators, Proteus-group starships, but none of the trademark anime-look and transformable mecha of the earlier series were seen. Carl Macek
Carl Frank Macek (September 21, 1951 – April 17, 2010) was an American screenwriter, script editor, producer and voice actor on numerous English language adaptations of anime during the 1980s and 1990s. ''Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles'' is a CGI animated television series based on the 1959 novel ''Starship Troopers'' by Robert A. Heinlein and the 1997 movie adaptation. The film's director, Paul Verhoeven, served as executive producer. It follows the exploits of the Mobile Infantry squad, "Razak's Roughnecks," during the SICON–Bugs War between a newly united humanity and an extraterrestrial race, known as the " Bugs," also sometimes referred to as Arachnids. Harmony Gold USA, Inc. was an American film and television production company. It was founded in 1983 by Egyptian-born Frank Agrama and is managed by his daughter, Jehan F. Agrama. In 1976, Agrama sold broadcast rights from Paramount Pictures to the Mediaset media conglomerate. It is best known as the distributor of the controversial ''Shaka Zulu (TV series), Shaka Zulu'' miniseries and for various anime series, notably ''Robotech (TV series), Robotech''.
