Robert Stanfield
Robert Lorne Stanfield (April 11, 1914 – December 16, 2003) was a Canadian politician who served as the 17th premier of Nova Scotia from 1956 to 1967 and the leader of the Official Opposition and leader of the federal Progressive Conservative Party of Canada from 1967 to 1976. Born into an affluent Nova Scotia clothing manufacturing and political family in Truro, Stanfield graduated from Dalhousie University and Harvard Law School in the 1930s. He was a lawyer before becoming the leader of the Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative Party in 1948, with the goal of reviving the party that did not have a single seat in the legislature. After a rebuilding period, Stanfield led the party to a majority government in 1956; their first victory since 1928. Gerald Ritcey
Gerald Conrad Ritcey (March 19, 1914 – November 24, 2001) was a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Colchester in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1968 to 1974. He was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia. Ritcey was born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He was a merchant and businessman and lived in Truro. He married Mary MacPhee in 1940. Ritcey served in the Executive Council of Nova Scotia as Minister of Trade and Industry. Ritcey died in Truro on November 24, 2001. Frank Thomas Stanfield
Frank Thomas Stanfield (25 February 1903 – 2 July 1967) was a Canadian businessman and Progressive Conservative Party politician who was twice elected Member of the Canadian Parliament for the Colchester—Hants riding in Nova Scotia (1945–53). He was the son of the Canadian politician Frank Stanfield and brother of Robert Lorne Stanfield. Early life Stanfield was born in Truro, Nova Scotia, the son of the politician Frank Stanfield and Sarah Emma Thomas. His brother was Robert Lorne Stanfield. John Stanfield (May 18, 1868 – January 22, 1934) was an industrialist and Conservative politician in Nova Scotia, Canada, who represented Colchester in both the Canadian House of Commons (1907–17) where he served as Chief Government Whip (1911–17) and the Canadian Senate (1921–34). Camp Hill Cemetery
Camp Hill Cemetery is a cemetery within Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is located on Camp Hill, adjacent to Robie Street. History In 1844, Camp Hill succeeded the city's first cemetery, the Old Burying Ground, which had been established almost 100 years earlier in 1749. Originally run by a private company, the cemetery is now owned and administered by the Halifax Regional Municipality. As a cemetery in the provincial capital, Camp Hill became the final resting place for many of Nova Scotia's elite. Officials allowed for the burial of Black Canadians in a segregated section of the cemetery. Truro (Mi'kmaq: ''Wagobagitik''; Scottish Gaelic: ''Truru'') is a town in central Nova Scotia, Canada. Truro is the shire town of Colchester County and is located on the south side of the Salmon River floodplain, close to the river's mouth at the eastern end of Cobequid Bay.
