Robert Lipsett
Robert Crawford Lipsett Jr. (born October 23, 1947) is a violin teacher in Los Angeles, California. He holds the Jascha Heifetz Distinguished Violin Chair at the Colburn School of Performing Arts. He also serves on the faculty at the Aspen School of Music, the Colburn Conservatory and the Colburn Academy. He has given master classes at major schools around the world. Lipsett was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He has a younger brother named Stephen James Lipsett, a successful real estate investor/broker living on Lake Granbury, Texas. As a child, he moved with his family to Dallas, Texas, where he began violin study with Zelman Brounoff and Ruth Lasley. The family subsequently lived in Saint Louis, Missouri, where Lipsett's violin instructor was Melvin Ritter. He graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music and later studied with Ivan Galamian at The Juilliard School and with Endre Granat. The violin, sometimes known as a ''fiddle'', is a wooden chordophone (string instrument) in the violin family. Most violins have a hollow wooden body. Elizabeth Pitcairn (born December 5, 1973) is a renowned American classical violinist who is noted for performing on the 1720 "Red Mendelssohn" Antonio Stradivari violin. In addition to a solo career, Pitcairn is President and Artistic Director of the Luzerne Music Center in Lake Luzerne, New York. Jennifer Frautschi
Jennifer Frautschi (; born 1973) is an American violinist. A recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant, she is currently Artist-in-Residence at Stony Brook University. She plays a 1722 Antonio Stradivari violin known as the " ex-Cadiz," on loan from a private American foundation. Biography Frautschi was born in Pasadena, California and began to play the violin at the age of three. At the Colburn School in Los Angeles she was a student of Robert Lipsett and later attended Harvard University, the New England Conservatory, and the Juilliard School, where she studied under Robert Mann. Lindsay Ann Deutsch is an American violinist. A native of Houston, Texas, Deutsch moved to Los Angeles at age 15 to pursue her musical career. Deutsch made her solo orchestral debut at the age of 11 with the Clear Lake Symphony in Texas. The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is an American symphony orchestra based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The orchestra performs primarily at the Bradley Symphony Center in Allen-Bradley Hall. Leila Bronia Josefowicz ( ; born October 20, 1977) is an American-Canadian classical violinist. Biography Josefowicz was born in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. When she was a young child her family moved to Los Angeles, California, where she started studying violin at the age of three and a half using the Suzuki method. (born October 10, 1979) is a Japanese-American violinist. A recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant, she won the Silver Medal at the 2002 International Tchaikovsky Competition and the First Prize at the 2001 Sarasate International Violin Competition. Early years Tamaki was born in Palos Verdes, California. She began violin studies at the age of five in Los Angeles. She studied with Robert Lipsett at the Colburn School in Los Angeles. Following this she studied with Dorothy DeLay and Masao Kawasaki at the Juilliard School of performing arts.
