Robert James Wood
Robert James Wood (27 March 1886 – 8 August 1954) was a Liberal Party of Canada, Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Teulon, Manitoba and became a merchant by career. He was elected at Norquay (electoral district), Norquay, a Manitoba riding which only existed for the 1949 Canadian federal election, 1949 general election before it was dissolved in 1952. Wood then became the Liberal candidate at Selkirk (federal electoral district), Selkirk, an electoral district which he unsuccessfully campaigned in for the 1945 Canadian federal election, 1945 election. Wood returned to Parliament after his victory at Selkirk in the 1953 Canadian federal election, 1953 election. However, he died in office before completing his term in the 22nd Canadian Parliament. Teulon, Manitoba
Teulon is a town located approximately 59 kilometres north of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on Provincial Trunk Highway 7. Located between Stonewall and Gimli, Teulon is commonly referred to as "The Gateway to the Interlake". Teulon is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Rockwood. History Teulon was founded in 1919, as a settlement for immigrant farmers, by Charles C. Castle, and was affectionately named after his wife's maiden name of "Teulon". Teulon soon became a village, and then became a town in 1997. Selkirk was a federal electoral district in Manitoba, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1871 to 1979. This riding was created in 1871 when the province of Manitoba was created. It was abolished in 1976 when it was redistributed into Provencher, Selkirk—Interlake, Winnipeg North Centre and Winnipeg—Birds Hill ridings. William Bryce
William "Scottie" Bryce (September 7, 1888 – June 17, 1963) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He briefly served as leader of the Manitoba Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF), although he never served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. Biography Bryce, born in Lanark, Scotland, was educated at Glasgow, and apprenticed as a machinist. He arrived in Canada in 1919 and farmed in Dugald, Manitoba. From 1941 to 1943, he served as president of the Manitoba Farmers Association. He was also a member of the National War Services Board (1942–43) and the Advisory Board of Dominion Beef Committee. Bryce was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada in a 1943 by-election, during a period of increased popularity for the federal CCF. Running in the riding of Selkirk, Bryce defeated his Liberal opponent Charles Fillmore by about 5500 votes. He was re-elected by narrower margins in the general elections of 1945 and 1949. The House of Commons of Canada (french: Chambre des communes du Canada) is the lower house of the Parliament of Canada.
