Rita Guerra
Rita Maria de Azevedo Mafra Guerra, commonly known as Rita Guerra (born 22 October 1967) is a Portuguese singer-songwriter. She represented Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 where she sang " Deixa-me sonhar" and finished 22nd. In 2020 she won the Portuguese version of Masked Singer as the crow. Biography Guerra was born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal. She has long competed in the Portuguese national pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. She first participated in 1992, making it to the national finals with the song "Meu amor inventado em mim," reaching second place. She sang in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003, in Riga, Latvia, where she finished 22nd with 13 points. Guerra's brother died of cancer the day previous to the contest, which she found out immediately after her performance. Guerra married the lyricist and composer of the song, Paulo Martins. Portugal participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with the song "Foi magia" written by Paulo Neves. The song was performed by Sofia Vitória. The Portuguese broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) organised the national final '' Festival da Canção 2004'' in order to select the Portuguese entry for the 2004 contest in Istanbul, Turkey. The competition consisted of two shows on 18 and 25 January 2004 where "Foi magia" performed by Sofia Vitória emerged as the winner after gaining 38.32% of the public televote. Portugal competed in the semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 12 May 2004. Performing during the show in position 7, "Foi magia" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final. Sofia Vitória Inácio (born 28 April 1979 in Setúbal, Portugal) is a Portuguese singer. Prior to recording her debut album "Palavra de Mulher", she performed in Portugal's main concert halls, as well as in Brazil, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Macao, Wales and Turkey. Sofia is strongly influenced not only by Jazz but also by World Music. She released her first record in partnership with pianist Luís Figueiredo.
