Ringvassøy Church
Ringvassøy Church ( no, Ringvassøy kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Karlsøy Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Hansnes on the island of Ringvassøya. It is the main church for the Karlsøy parish which is part of the Tromsø domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. History In 1970, when the administrative centre of Karlsøy Municipality was moved from the small island of Karlsøya to the village of Hansnes (on Ringvassøya island), the discussion began about building a church in Hansnes to be the new main church for the municipality. The white, concrete church building was completed in 1977 and it seats about 400 people. The church has a fan-shaped design. The church was consecrated on 12 June 1977 by the Bishop Kristen Kyrre Bremer. Karlsøy ( sme, Gálssa suohkan) is an island municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Hansnes. Other villages include Dåfjord, Hessfjord, Karlsøya, Torsvåg, Vannvåg, and Vannareid. The municipality is made up of many islands including Ringvassøya, Reinøya, Vannøya, Karlsøya, and Rebbenesøya plus several uninhabited islands (many of which were formerly inhabited). Some of the currently uninhabited islands include Helgøya, Nordkvaløya, Grøtøya, and Nord-Fugløya. The municipality is the 103rd largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Karlsøy is the 268th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 2,179. Kristen Kyrre Bremer
Kristen Kyrre Bremer (12 July 1925 – 16 May 2013) was a Norwegian theologian and bishop in the Church of Norway. Education and career Bremer was born in Tana, Norway in 1925. Bremer received his cand.theol. degree in 1953 in the Faculty of Theology at the University of Oslo. He was ordained as a priest in 1953. His began his ministry as a Military Chaplain for the brigade in northern Norway from 1953 to 1956. He then was the assistant pastor at Nord-Fron from 1956 to 1960, a military chaplain in Gaza from 1960–1965. He served as vicar at Bardu Church from 1965–1969, dean of Senja prosti from 1969–1972, bishop of the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland from 1972–1979, and bishop of the Diocese of Nidaros Nidaros is a diocese in the Lutheran Church of Norway.
