Kristen Kyrre Bremer
Kristen Kyrre Bremer (12 July 1925 – 16 May 2013) was a Norwegian theologian and bishop in the Church of Norway. Education and career Bremer was born in Tana, Norway in 1925. Bremer received his cand.theol. degree in 1953 in the Faculty of Theology at the University of Oslo. He was ordained as a priest in 1953. His began his ministry as a Military Chaplain for the brigade in northern Norway from 1953 to 1956. He then was the assistant pastor at Nord-Fron from 1956 to 1960, a military chaplain in Gaza from 1960–1965. He served as vicar at Bardu Church from 1965–1969, dean of Senja prosti from 1969–1972, bishop of the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland from 1972–1979, and bishop of the Diocese of Nidaros Nidaros is a diocese in the Lutheran Church of Norway. Bishop
A bishop is an ordained clergy member who is entrusted with a position of authority and oversight in a religious institution. In Christianity, bishops are normally responsible for the governance of dioceses. The role or office of bishop is called episcopacy. Organizationally, several Christian denominations utilize ecclesiastical structures that call for the position of bishops, while other denominations have dispensed with this office, seeing it as a symbol of power. Brigade Nord
Brigade Nord (Brig. N.; Northern Brigade) is the major combat formation and only brigade of the Norwegian Army. The Brigade will raise 1 new Armoured Battalion in 2026-32. 2nd Battalion are converting to Armoured Battalion from 2020. Finn Wagle
Finn Wagle (born 19 June 1941) is a theologian and a former bishop of Nidaros in the Church of Norway. He was also the Preses (''Primus inter pares'', “first among equals”) and thus presided over the Bishop's Conference in the Church of Norway from 2002 until 2006. Career Wagle enrolled as a student at MF Norwegian School of Theology in 1962, and graduated in 1968 with the cand.theol. degree. The following year he graduated from the Practical Theological Seminary at MF. He also studied in 1966-1967 in Berlin with a Willy Brandt Scholarship. Wagle's first post was serving as an army chaplain (1970) before working as a vicar in Sørreisa in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland from 1970-1975. Tord Godal
Tord Godal (27 June 1909 – 27 February 2002) was a Norwegian theologian and bishop for the Diocese of Nidaros. He was decorated Commander of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav in 1969. Godal was also a Freemason. Godal was born on 27 June 1909 in Stavanger, Norway. He was educated in theology, receiving his cand.theol. degree in 1932 and his dr.theol. degree in 1947. He served as a pastor in various positions in the Diocese of Oslo between 1934 and 1940. He was a chaplain in Trondheim from 1940 to 1948, resident chaplain at Bakke Church in Trondheim from 1948 to 1956, and Dean of the Oslo Cathedral from 1956 to 1960. He was bishop of the Diocese of Nidaros from 1960 to 1979, the longest serving bishop in Nidaros during the 20th century. He also served as praeses of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters from 1966 to 1973. Arvid Halgeir Nergård (11 April 1923 – 23 November 2006) was a Norwegian bishop in the Church of Norway. He was born in Lenvik, Norway in 1923. He received a degree in agronomy in 1943 and the cand.theol. degree in 1952. Monrad Norderval
Monrad Oskar Norderval (1902–1976) was a Norwegian bishop in the Church of Norway. Norderval was born in Ålesund, Norway in 1902. He graduated with the cand.theol. degree in 1928 from the Royal Frederick University in Oslo. He began his ministry as an assistant pastor in Skjervøy in 1929. He then served as vicar in Tana from 1929–1935, in Ørsta from 1935–1948, Ålesund from 1948–1961, and was the bishop of the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland from 1961–1972. He also published poems, essay collections, and memoirs. He died in Ålesund in 1976. Senja Prosti
or is an island in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway, Europe. With an area of , it is the second largest island in Norway (outside of the Svalbard archipelago). It has a wild, mountainous outer (western) side facing the Atlantic, and a mild and lush inner (eastern) side. The island is located within Senja Municipality, which was established on 1 January 2020. The island of Senja had 7,864 inhabitants as of 1 January 2017. Bardu Church
Bardu Church ( no, Bardu kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bardu Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Setermoen. It is the main church for the Bardu parish which is part of the Senja prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The white, octagonal, wooden church was built in a octagonal style in 1829 using plans drawn up by the architect Ole Olsen Lundberg. The church seats about 220 people. Bardu Church was constructed from 1825-1829 and it was modeled after the Tynset Church in Hedmark county, but this one was built to a smaller scale. The church has an octagonal floor plan, a large square tower to the west, and a choir to the east. The exterior of the church is clad with vertical, white painted panels. The tower, which was not completed until 1840, has a pyramid-shaped roof.
