Henry Ries
Henry Ries (September 22, 1917 – May 24, 2004) was a photographer who worked for ''New York Times''. His most famous photo was of "The Berlin Air Lift" which was later made into a U.S. Postage Stamp commemorative. Ries was born in Berlin and grew up in Germany, but sensed the impending doom of Hitler's political style and, as a Jew, emigrated to the United States in 1937. Immigration officials in New York sent him back to the Third Reich because of technical problems with his papers. Nick Ries (born 14 July 1982) is a former Australian rules footballer who played as a midfielder for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was drafted at pick 21 in the 2000 AFL Draft. From 2002 to 2004 he played 60 out of a possible 66 matches until the arrival of Alastair Clarkson as senior coach. He was one of several players former club legend David Parkin labeled as a ''Mummy's Boy'' because of his lightweight frame. Merete Ries
Merete Jul Ries (11 October 1938 - 25 May 2018) was a Danish publisher and editor. She entered the publishing literature when she joined the Gyldendal publishing house in 1966 and served as its publishing editor from 1968 until she was made redundant in 1980. Ries was an editor at the publishing house between 1981 and 1982 and then established the publishing house in 1982. She established a Danish news magazine called ''OMverden'' in 1991 and was an editor from 1993 to 2001, working on '' The History of Nordic Women's Literature'' and ''Dansk kvindebiografisk leksikon''. Julien Ries (19 April 1920 – 23 February 2013) was a Belgian religious historian, titular archbishop and cardinal of the Catholic Church. Prior to his death, Ries was described as "the greatest living religios scholar". Life Born in Fouches, near Arlon, Belgium, he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Namur on 12 August 1945. After graduating with a doctorate of Philosophy and receiving a licentiate in philology and Oriental history from the Catholic University of Leuven, Ries taught at the university from 1960 to 1968. Jane Silverstein Ries (1909–2005), also known professionally as Julia Jane Silverstein, was an American landscape architect who was the first woman licensed in Colorado as a professional landscape architect.
