Richard Dorfmeister
Kruder & Dorfmeister, named after members Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister, is an Austrian duo, known for their trip hop/downtempo remixes of pop, hip hop and drum and bass songs. Career In 1993, they released their first EP '' G-Stoned'' featuring the hypnotic "High Noon" and a cover resembling Simon & Garfunkel's '' Bookends'' to critical acclaim especially from the UK. Gilles Peterson played the track at first on his BBC show ''Worldwide''. In 2007, the duo were commissioned by Nokia to create a set of ringtones and sounds for its luxury Nokia 8800 Arte and Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte phones. 2010 marked the 16th anniversary of Kruder & Dorfmeister and their record label G-Stone Recordings which resulted in the release of the ''Sixteen F**king Years Of G-Stone Recordings'' compilation and the development of the ''K&D Sessions Live'' show. ''Akte Grüninger'' is a Swiss-Austrian feature film produced in 2013 for the Swiss television SRF. The television film focuses on events in late summer 1938, when Paul Grüninger saved the lives of up to 3,600 Jewish refugees from Germany and Austria by pre-dating their visas, enabling them to migrate 'illegally' to Switzerland. Plot In August 1938, Switzerland closed its borders to Jewish refugees who tried to evade the Nazi regime. Migration of Jewish people across the '' green border'' to Switzerland was declared by the Swiss government to be illegal, and refugees were sent back to Germany and Austria. Hundreds of people without a valid visa tried to cross the border to be secure in Switzerland from the Holocaust, most of them by crossing the border to the Canton of St. Gallen. The K&D Sessions
''The K&D Sessions'' is the second DJ mix compilation album by the Vienna-based duo Kruder & Dorfmeister. Released by Studio !K7 in 1998 to glowing reviews, the album features two original songs among the remixes. Style The compilation album is a selection of remixes produced in the previous five years by either Richard Dorfmeister, Peter Kruder or the two together. The album also contains two original productions. Dorfmeister stated that they worked about two weeks on each remix. John Bush of AllMusic described the album's sound as "earthy, downtempo and acid-based, even more so than previous mix albums by the pair." Release ''The K&D Sessions'' was released on 5 October 1998 in both a two-disc CD set and a four-disc vinyl set by Studio !K7. Shadow Records
Shadow Records was launched in 1995 as an Instinct Records sub-label to focus on the more organic side of the underground electronic music scene. The label's first release in 1995 defined this approach with ''Abstrackt Workshop'', which featured performances by DJ Krush, Funki Porcini, and Marden Hill in addition to songs from the such cutting edge labels as ''Pussyfoot'' and ''Yellow Productions''. The Big Chill was an annual festival of alternative, dance and chill-out music and comedy, held in the grounds of Eastnor Castle during early August. The 2011 line-up included The Chemical Brothers, Kanye West, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Jessie J, Robert Plant, Calvin Harris, Neneh Cherry, Aloe Blacc, Chipmunk, Katy B & Example.
