This partnership introduced the likes of Funki Porcini, DJ Food, 9 Lazy 9, Up, Bustle and Out, Hedfunk, London Funk Allstars to U.S. audiences. Shadow went on to release U.S. debut CDs from DJ Krush, DJ Cam, Cujo, Shantel, James Hardway and Ollano. Shadow Records Logo
A shadow is a dark area where light from a light source is blocked by an opaque object. It occupies all of the three-dimensional volume behind an object with light in front of it. The cross section of a shadow is a two- dimensional silhouette, or a reverse projection of the object blocking the light. Point and non-point light sources A point source of light casts only a simple shadow, called an "umbra". For a non-point or "extended" source of light, the shadow is divided into the umbra, penumbra, and antumbra. The wider the light source, the more blurred the shadow becomes. If two penumbras overlap, the shadows appear to attract and merge. This is known as the shadow blister effect. The outlines of the shadow zones can be found by tracing the rays of light emitted by the outermost regions of the extended light source. The umbra region does not receive any direct light from any part of the light source and is the darkest. A viewer located in the umbra region cannot dire ...

Adventures In Foam
''Adventures in Foam'' is the first album by Brazilian electronic musician Amon Tobin, and the only one to be released under the name Cujo (Portuguese for "''whose''"). It was first released in September 1996 on the small south London label Ninebar records. This was around the same time that Tobin signed with Ninja Tune to record under his own name. Critical reception '' The Stranger'', in a retrospective article on Tobin, called the album a "triphop classic." Peter Shapiro, in ''Drum 'n' Bass: The Rough Guide'', called the album "a further exercise in jazz-based sampladelic quirkiness that was a bit too clever, a bit too blunted and bit too broad-minded to really work." Track listing Original Ninebar edition The track lists of the original CD and LP versions, as released in the UK on 16 September 1996, were as follows: US (Shadow Records) edition The album was released in the United States, with an altered track listing and artwork unapproved by Tobin, by S ...

Bricolage (album)
''Bricolage'' is a 1997 album by Brazilian electronic music artist Amon Tobin. It was Tobin's second album, the first released under his own name, and his first on the Ninja Tune label. The album was a departure from his first album, '' Adventures in Foam'' (as Cujo), incorporating a heavier blend of jazz melodies and intense jungle rhythms. The album was followed by ''Permutation'' in 1998. The album art for ''Bricolage'' depicts part of Alexander Liberman's '' Olympic Iliad'' sculpture, located at the base of the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington. Reception Ryan Schreiber of '' Pitchfork'' gave ''Bricolage'' a maximum rating of 10/10, praising Amon Tobin for the way he produced an album of old jazz music with modern technology, such as samplers and electric keyboards. Sean Cooper of AllMusic stated that the album was consistently engaging and blurred the distinction between jungle and jazz. In 2015, ''Fact'' ranked the album at 23 on its list of "The 50 Best Trip-Hop Albums ...

Electronica
Electronica is both a broad group of electronic-based music styles intended for listening rather than strictly for dancing and a music scene that started in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom. In the United States, the term is mostly used to refer to electronic music generally. History Early 1990s: origins and UK scene The original wide-spread use of the term "electronica" derives from the influential English experimental techno label New Electronica, which was one of the leading forces of the early 1990s introducing and supporting dance-based electronic music oriented towards home listening rather than dance-floor play, although the word "electronica" had already begun to be associated with synthesizer generated music as early as 1983, when a "UK Electronica Festival" was first held. At that time electronica became known as "electronic listening music", also becoming more or less synonymous to ambient techno and intelligent techno, and was considered distinct from other em ...
