Rhineland-Palatinate Police
The Rhineland-Palatinate State Police is the state police ('' Landespolizei'') of the German federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate and numbers ca. 9,000 police officers. The five regional police authorities are headquartered in Koblenz, Trier, Mainz, Kaiserslautern and Ludwigshafen. Just like Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate abolished the “green star” ranks; meaning Rhineland-Palatinate's police officers will their service as Probationary Inspectors (''Polizeikommissaranwärter''). This reform aims at making the police profession more attractive and improving promotion chances. Bereitschaftspolizei
The ''Bereitschaftspolizei'' (literally 'Readiness Police'/On-Call Police (Reserve); effectively riot police) are the support and rapid reaction units of Germany's police forces. They are composed of detachments from the Federal Police and the State Police forces of Germany. Federal Republic The Federal Ministry of the Interior maintains an office of the ''Bereitschaftspolizei'' in Berlin which monitors and coordinates the deployment of all ''Bereitschaftspolizei'' units in Germany. The ministry also provides standardized weapons, vehicles and other equipment. 2022 Police Shooting In Germany
In Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, two police officers were fatally shot at a traffic stop on 31 January 2022. The Public prosecutor's office believes that the two arrested suspects were attempting to cover up their poaching. Incident In the early morning of 31 January 2022 two police officers from West-Palatinate police office were on a routine patrol. The officers were in uniform, equipped with bulletproof vests in a civil vehicle. The patrol informed the police control room that they had found "dubious persons" in a car and would now carry out a closer check. The later investigation revealed that there were numerous dead wild animals in the hold of the van. The 24-year-old policewoman was killed with a shot to the head from the shotgun. The investigation showed that she was probably guileless and may have held a flashlight and the suspects' papers in her hand. Shortly afterwards, a second radio message followed: "They shoot at us". Wittlich
The town of Wittlich (; Moselle Franconian: ''Wittlech'') is the seat of the Bernkastel-Wittlich district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Enkenbach-Alsenborn is a municipality in the district of Kaiserslautern, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated on the northern edge of the Palatinate forest, approx. 10 km north-east of Kaiserslautern. ''Spezialeinsatzkommando'' (SEK, "Special Task Force") are police tactical units of each of the 16 German State Police forces. Along with the ''Mobile Einsatzkommando'' (MEK), ''Personenschutzkommando'' (bodyguards), and the ''Verhandlungsgruppe'' (negotiation teams in some states), they are part of the police ''Spezialeinheiten'' of each state. The State Criminal Police Office, or Landeskriminalamt (LKA) in German, is an independent law enforcement agency in all 16 German states that is directly subordinate to the state's ministry of the interior. Hahn Air Base
Hahn Air Base was a United States Air Force installation near Lautzenhausen in Germany for over 40 years. The major unit was the United States Air Force's 50th Tactical Fighter Wing during most of the years it was active. It was originally built by French workers in 1951. In September 1952 the 7356th Air Base Group stood up and started to get the base ready for operational forces. The 50th Fighter Bomber Wing deployed to Hahn from Clovis Air Force Base, New Mexico during Operation Fox Able 27 in August 1953. After name changes the 50th Tactical Fighter Wing was deactivated in 1991 after 35 years at Hahn. In September 1993, Hahn Air Base was turned over to the German Government.
