Representative Office of South Ossetia, Donetsk is an unofficial diplomatic mission of South Ossetia. The office is located in the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Donetsk. South Ossetia has recognized the DPR, but it hasn't created an official embassy so far as of 2016. History South Ossetia recognized the DPR in 2014. The South Ossetian president Leonid Tibilov announced that the foreign ministry would establish the diplomatic mission in Donetsk. The representative office was opened in Donetsk, the DPR's capital, on 16 April 2015. It is the first foreign diplomatic mission in Donetsk. A diplomatic mission or foreign mission is a group of people from a state or organization present in another state to represent the sending state or organization officially in the receiving or host state. Donetsk ( , ; uk, Донецьк, translit=Donets'k ; russian: Донецк ), formerly known as Aleksandrovka, Yuzivka (or Hughesovka), Stalin and Stalino (see also: Names of European cities in different languages (C–D), cities' alternative names), is an industrial city in eastern Ukraine located on the Kalmius River in Donetsk Oblast. Leonid Kharitonovich Tibilov ( os, Тыбылты Харитъоны фырт Леонид, Tybylty Xarithony fyrt Leonid; russian: Леонид Харитонович Тибилов; ka, ლეონიდ თიბილოვი, Leonid Tibilovi; born 28 March 1951) is a South Ossetian politician who served as the President of South Ossetia from 2012 to 2017 after winning the 2012 South Ossetian presidential election. Career Leonid Tibilov headed the South Ossetian KGB as South Ossetia's Security Minister from 1992 to 1998. He was then a first deputy prime minister and co-chaired a Georgian-Ossetian peacekeeping commission. The Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) are two Russian civilian-military administrative regimes in the Donbas region of Ukraine.
