Reiderland Kaart
Reiderland () is a former municipality in the province Groningen in the northeastern Netherlands, which was founded in 1990 during a large municipal reorganisation. The former municipalities Finsterwolde and Bad Nieuweschans were abolished and added to Beerta. In 1992, the new municipality was given its current name. In 2010 it joined in the municipality Oldambt. Politics Reiderland was one of the few municipalities in the Netherlands that still had communist councillors after the dissolution of the Communist Party of the Netherlands in 1989. (As of 2006, it was one of only four Dutch municipalities to have any, the other three being Heiloo, Scheemda and Lemsterland.) The New Communist Party of the Netherlands was in fact the largest party in Reiderland from 1990 to 1998 and again from 2002 to 2006. Dutch Municipal Election, 2006
The Dutch municipal elections of 2006 were held on 7 March 2006. About 11.8 million people could vote in 419 municipalities. Due to local redistricting, 15 municipalities have already held elections in January 2006 and 24 municipalities will hold elections in November 2006. In some cities, such as Amsterdam, there were two elections, for the municipality and for the ' stadsdeelraden' (borough councils). Results Official results were announced on March 9, 2006official site. PvdA (Labour Party) obtained the most votes and seats, more than making good the losses of the 2002 elections. The Socialistische Partij almost doubled in size, partly due to its participation in more municipalities than in 2002. CDA, VVD and D66 all had noticeable losses, which may in part be caused by dissatisfaction with the current national government, of which they are the coalition partners. Hongerige Wolf
Hongerige Wolf (; Hungry Wolf) is a Hamlet (place), hamlet with a population of 30 in the municipality of Oldambt (municipality), Oldambt in the Netherlands. Overview The origin of the name is unclear. It first appeared in a 1877 newspaper as "''zoogedaamde Hongerige Wolf''" (so-called Hungry Wolf). It is probably related to an inn in the hamlet with the same name. Nevertheless, the name stuck and the hamlet is nowadays known as Hongerige Wolf. It ceased to be a statistical designation, therefore, the latest population update is from 1997. From 1991 onwards, Hongerige Wolf received national attention when Hannelore Klinkhamer disappeared. Her husband Richard Klinkhamer was prime suspect, however no evidence or body could be found. He moved in 1997, and in 2000, his wife's remains were discovered below the concrete floor of the garden shed. Klinkhamer was sentenced to seven years for manslaughter. Drieborg
Drieborg (also: ''Stocksterhorn''; Gronings: ''Drijbörg'') is a dike village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is a part of the municipality of Oldambt. History The village started along a dike on the Dollart as Stocksterhorn. In 1656, the dike was extended to Nieuweschans. Due to the proximity to the border, a redoubt was constructed in Stocksterhorn. In 1673, the Bishop of Münster conquered the redoubt. On 26 August 1818, the village was first referred to as Drieborg in the Provincial Council of Groningen. The origin of the name is unclear. The most likely explanation is "three boroughs" (fortified settlements), which however cannot be correct. The village used to be a part of the municipality of Beerta. Drieborg was mainly inhabited by farm workers. During the 20th century, Drieborg was a stronghold of the Communist Party of the Netherlands.
