Red Electric (band)
Red Electric (formerly Drive and Red Electrick) is the name of a Maltese rock band formed in 1995. The original line-up was made up of Matthew James Borg (voice and keyboards), Peter Borg (guitars), Jonas Delicata (guitars), Ivan Borg (bass and backing vocals), and Raphael Tonna (drums). The current line-up consist of guitarist Peter Borg, pianist Aleandro Spiteri Monsigneur, bassist Ivan Borg, singer Joe Roscoe, and drummer Robert Spiteri. History The band released its first single titled ''Shake ''in 1995. In 2008, the band changed its name from Drive to Red Electrick. The band has since released four albums and eight singles. Its most popular releases are ''Dangerous'', ''Young Again'', ''Everybody's Listening'' and ''Paul''. In 2015, drummer Robert Spiteri took over from founding member and drummer Raphael Tonna. Joseph Calleja
Joseph Calleja (born January 22, 1978) is a Maltese operatic tenor. Early life and career Calleja was born in Attard, Malta. He began singing at the age of 16, having been discovered by tenor Brian Cefai and continued his studies with Maltese tenor Paul Asciak. He attended De La Salle College. At the age of 19 he made his operatic debut as Macduff in Verdi's '' Macbeth'' at the Astra Theatre in Gozo and went on to become a prize winner at the Belvedere Hans Gabor Competition the same year. In 1998 he won the Caruso Competition in Milan and was a prize winner in Plácido Domingo's Operalia in 1999. On November 2, 2012, the University of Malta presented Calleja with a Doctor of Literature Honoris Causa in acknowledgment of his achievements as an internationally renowned tenor. Destiny (singer)
Destiny Chukunyere M.Q.R. (born 29 August 2002) is a Maltese singer. She won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015, where she represented Malta with the song " Not My Soul". In 2017, she participated in the eleventh series of ''Britain's Got Talent'' and finished 6th in the second semi-final and thus was eliminated. She won the second season of the Maltese version of ''The X Factor'' and was chosen to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam with the song " All of My Love" however the contest was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ira Losco M.Q.R. (born 31 July 1981) is a Maltese pop singer. Her career breakthrough came in 2002, when she represented Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 with the song "7th Wonder". She placed second in the competition, Malta's best ever result. Fourteen years later, she returned and represented Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song " Walk on Water", placing twelfth. The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra is recognized as Malta’s foremost musical institution. Founded in 1968 as the Manoel Theatre Orchestra, in September 1997 it became an independent body and was officially named as Malta's national orchestra. The Travellers (Maltese Band)
The Travellers are a music band from the Maltese island of Gozo. They released "Sempliċità" ("Simplicity"), their debut single, in January 2016. Their sound is characterized by Maltese lyrics accompanied by brass-based pop music. History The band was formed in 2013 with the aim to create something different within the Maltese music scene. Clayton Bonello (bass guitar), Joseph Xerri (trumpet), Chris Gatt (main vocals), and Andrew Vella (guitar and backing vocals) were the original members. Sylvano Mizzi (saxophone and keyboards) and Micheal Camilleri (drums) joined later in the same year. All members of the band come from the smaller Maltese island of Gozo. Bay Radio, also known as 89.7 Bay, is a radio station located in Malta. Bay Radio is owned by the Eden Leisure Group and was founded in 1991.
