Razi Shirazi
Ayatollah Sayyid Radhi al-Husayni al-Shirazi ( ar, رضي الحسيني الشيرازي; fa, ; 29 March 1927 – 1 December 2021), also known as Razi Shirazi, was an Iraqi-Iranian Shia who was a jurist, philosopher and theologian. He was the great-grandson of the renowned Shia jurist, Mirza Shirazi, the pioneer of the Tobacco protest. He was the Imam of the Shifa mosque in Yousefabad. Early life and education Shirazi was born in Najaf, Iraq. He hailed from the prominent religious al-Shirazi family. His father was Sayyid Muhammad-Husayn al-Shirazi (d. 1955), the son of grand Ayatollah Mirza Ali Agha al-Shirazi (d. 1936). His mother was the daughter of Sheikh Muhammad-Kadhim al-Shirazi (d. 1948). Ayatollah ( ; fa, آیتالله, āyatollāh) is an Title of honor, honorific title for high-ranking Twelver Shia clergy in Iran and Iraq that came into widespread usage in the 20th century. Etymology The title is originally derived from Arabic word pre-modified with the definite article and Grammatical modifier#Premodifiers and postmodifiers, post-modified with the word ''Allah'', making ( ar, آية الله). The combination has been translated to English as 'Sign of God', 'Divine Sign' or 'Reflection of God'. Taqi Tabatabaei Qomi
Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Taqi Tabatabaei Qomi ( ar, تقي الطباطبايي القمي fa, , February 21, 1923–October 26, 2016) was an Iranian Shia marja'. He, along with Ali al-Sistani, and Ali Falsafi, were among the only three people to receive a written statement declaring their ijtihad by grand Ayatollah Abu al-Qasim al-Khoei. Birth and Education He was born in Mashhad, Iran. He is the son of Grand Ayatollah Hossein Tabatabaei Qomi (1865–1947) and the younger brother of Grand Ayatollah Hassan Tabatabaei Qomi (1912–2007). In 1936 he moved to Iraq and has studied in seminaries of Karbala and then Najaf under Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Hadi Milani, ِ Abd al-Hadi al-Shirazi, Hossein Heli, Mohammad Kazem Shirazi and especially Abu al-Qasim al-Khoei. Hossein Borujerdi
Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Hossein Ali Tababataei Borujerdi (Luri/ fa, آیت الله العظمی سید حسین طباطبایی بروجردی; 23 March 1875 – 30 March 1961) was a leading Iranian Shia Marja' in Iran from approximately 1947 to his death in 1961. Life Borujerdi was born on 23 March 1875 in the city of Borujerd in Lorestan Province in Iran. His family traced its lineage 30 generations to Hassan ibn Ali (the grand son of the Prophet Muhammad). His father Sayyid Ali Tabataba'i was a religious scholar in Borujerd and his mother, Sayyidah Agha Beygum, was the daughter of Sayyid Mohammad Ali Tabataba'i. Tenure as Ayatollah and Marja Borujerdi revived the hawza of Qom in 1945 (1364 AH), which had waned after the death of its founder Abdul-Karim Ha'eri Yazdi in 1937. Grand Ayatollah Mirza Abd al-Hadi al-Husayni al-Shirazi (; fa, ; 1882 – July 13, 1962) was an Iraqi-Iranian Shia marja' and poet. After the death of Abu al-Hasan al-Esfehani, al-Shirazi was considered to be one of the highest ranking scholars in Iraq, along with Muhsin al-Hakim (possibly higher ranking than al-Hakim) and some less popular jurists like Muhammad-Husayn Kashif al-Ghitaa, Mahmoud al-Shahroudi, and Muhammad-Ridha Al Yasin. Sayyed Abul Hasan Rafiee Qazvini was an Iranian philosopher and jurist. Early life Sayyed Abul Hasan Rafiee Qazvini was born in 1890 in Qazvin Province, Iran. His family were the relatives of Molla Khalil Qazvini. His father Abul Hasan Ibn Khalil Al Hosseini was also a jurist. The family name Rafiee was given to him from his grandfather, Ayatollah Mirza Rafie. As a child, Qazvini learned literature and Arabic. He studied at the school of Salehiyyah of Qazvin. Abu Al-Qasim Al-Khoei
Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Abu al-Qasim al-Musawi al-Khoei ( ; ar, أبو القاسم الموسوي الخوئي; fa, ; November 19, 1899 – August 8, 1992) was an Iranian- Iraqi Shia marja'. Al-Khoei is considered one of the most influential twelver scholars. After the death of Muhsin al-Hakim, he became the spiritual leader of much of the Shia world until his death in 1992. He was succeeded briefly by Abd al-A'la al-Sabziwari, until his death in 1993. Then his former student, Ali al-Sistani, took leadership of the seminary, whereby many of his followers became followers of al-Sistani.
