Ratilal Borisagar
Ratilal Mohanlal Borisagar (born 31 August 1938) is a Gujarati humourist, essayist and editor from Gujarat, India. Born and educated in Savarkundla, he received a PhD in 1989. After working for some years as a teacher, he joined the state school textbook board until his retirement in 1998. He started his writing career as a story writer, but eventually gained acclaim as a humourist. He published several humour collections and humour novels, including the acclaimed book ''Enjoygraphy''. He edited several works of children's literature and humour literature. In 2019, he received the Sahitya Akademi Award for his essay collection, ''Mojma Revu Re.'' Biography Borisagar was born on 31 August 1938 in Savarkundla (now Amreli district, Gujarat) to Mohanlal and Santokben Borisagar. He completed his primary and secondary education in that district. Gujarati Vishwakosh
''Gujarati Vishwakosh'' ( gu, ગુજરાતી વિશ્વકોશ, ) is an encyclopedia in Gujarati, one of the official languages of India, published by Gujarat Vishwakosh Trust, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It can be considered the first full encyclopedia in the Gujarati language. Under the guidance of Dhirubhai Thaker, the work started in 1985 and ended in 2009 consisting of 25 volumes with 23,090 articles. History After the foundation of Gujarat state in 1960 on the linguistic basis, there was a need for literature available to the Gujarati speaking public. After years of efforts by Dhirubhai Thaker, the Gujarat Vishwakosh Trust was set up in December 1985 comprising many scholars and people of various disciplines. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a class of diseases that involve the heart or blood vessels. Sharifa Vijaliwala (born 4 August 1962) is an Indian Gujarati language writer, critic, translator and editor from Surat, Gujarat, India. She is a recipient of a 2018 Sahitya Akademi Award for ''Vibhajanni Vyatha'', a collection of critical essays in Gujarati, and has won several Gujarat Sahitya Akademi awards for her literary work. Biography Sharifa Vijliwala was born to her parents, Kasambhai and Hajaraben, on 4 August 1962 in Amargadh, a village in Shihor, in the Bhavnagar district of Gujarat, India. She completed her primary education there, and passed her secondary and higher secondary board exams in 1978 and 1981 respectively. In 1985, she graduated from the Faculty of Technology and Engineering, at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda earning a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. She worked as a pharmacist for five years. The Gujarat Sahitya Akademi ( gu, ગુજરાત સાહિત્ય અકાદમી) or Gujarat Sahitya Academy, established in 1981, is a government institution dedicated to the development of the languages spoken in Gujarat, India and their literature. ''Kumar'' ( gu, કુમાર) is a Gujarati literary magazine founded by Gujarati artist and author Ravishankar Raval in 1924. It is now edited by Dhiru Parikh. The headquarters is in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. History ''Kumar'' was founded by Ravishankar Raval in Ahmedabad in 1924. The magazine was started as an avant-garde cultural publication. Bachubhai Ravat served as editor-in-chief from 1924 to 1942 with him. After the death of Ravishankar Raval, Bachubhai served as editor until 1980. After the death of Bachubhai in 1980, Biharibhai Tank became the editor of magazine. In 1987, it was closed. After three years, in 1990, under the editorship of Dhiru Parikh, the publication resumed. Vinod Bhatt
Vinod Bhatt (14 January 1938 – 23 May 2018) was a Gujarati humour essayist and biographer from Gujarat, India. Biography Vinod Bhatt was born on 14 January 1938 at Nandol near Dehgam (now in Gujarat) to Jashvantlal and Jayabahen. He matriculated in 1955 and graduated in arts from H. L. Commerce College in 1961. He passed LL.B. in 1964. He worked as a sales tax consultant initially and as an income tax consultant. He was a freelance writer by profession. He was the president of Gujarati Sahitya Parishad from 1996 to 1997. He had written humour columns in Gujarati dailies, ''Mag Nu Naam Mari'' in ''Gujarat Samachar'' and ''Idam Trityam'' in ''Divya Bhaskar''. Bholabhai Patel
Bholabhai Patel () was an Indian Gujarati author. He taught numerous languages at Gujarat University and did comparative studies of literature in different languages. He translated extensively and wrote essays and travelogues. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2008. Life Patel was born on 7 August 1934, in Soja village near Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He completed S.S.C. in 1952. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Sanskrit, Hindi and Indian culture from Banaras Hindu University in 1957. He also studied at the Gujarat University, and completed his master's degree in Hindi in 1960, a Bachelors in English in 1968, a Masters in English and Science of Language in 1970. From 1974, he started working on his PhD thesis on Sachchidananda Vatsyayan 'Agyeya', a modernist Hindi writer, and completed it in 1977.
