Randall Friese
Randall Scott Friese (born ) is an American surgeon and politician from the state of Arizona. A member of the Democratic Party, Friese served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2015 through 2021, when he resigned to focus on his medical career. Education Friese earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1986. He received a medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1990 and a Master of Science in clinical sciences from the University of Texas Southwestern Graduate School in 2008. Career From 1997 to 2001, Friese served in the United States Navy's Medical Corps. He left the service as a lieutenant commander. Friese is a trauma surgeon, and he served as an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Arizona Medical Center. He now is a surgeon for Banner Health following the 2015 merger with UAHN. Arizona 9th Legislative District
Arizona's 9th Legislative District is one of 30 in the state, consisting of a section of Maricopa County. As of 2023, there are 39 precincts in the district, all in Maricopa, with a total registered voter population of 113,260. The district has an overall population of 238,117. Following the 2020 United States redistricting cycle, the Redistricting in Arizona, Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission (AIRC) redrew legislative district boundaries in Arizona. A medical degree is a professional degree admitted to those who have passed coursework in the fields of medicine and/or surgery from an accredited medical school. The 2022 United States House of Representatives elections in Arizona were held on November 8, 2022, to determine the nine representatives of the state of Arizona. The elections coincided with the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial election, as well as other elections to the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, and various other state and local elections. Arizona's 2nd Congressional District
Arizona's 2nd congressional district is a congressional district located in the U.S. state of Arizona. For election purposes, it is now located in the northeast corner of the state. For representational purposes until January 2023, it is located in the southeastern corner of the state and includes roughly two-thirds of Tucson. It is the only one of the state's nine congressional districts that does not include any part of Maricopa County. 2011 Tucson Shooting
On January 8, 2011, U.S. Representative Gabby Giffords and 18 others were shot during a constituent meeting held in a supermarket parking lot in Casas Adobes, Arizona, in the Tucson metropolitan area. Six people were killed, including federal District Court Chief Judge John Roll; Gabe Zimmerman, one of Giffords's staffers; and a 9-year-old girl, Christina-Taylor Green. Giffords was holding the meeting, called "Congress on Your Corner", in the parking lot of a Safeway store when Jared Lee Loughner drew a pistol and shot her in the head before proceeding to fire on other people. Trauma surgery is a surgical specialty that utilizes both operative and non-operative management to treat traumatic injuries, typically in an acute setting.
