Arizona 9th Legislative District
Arizona's 9th Legislative District is one of 30 in the state, consisting of a section of Maricopa County. As of 2023, there are 39 precincts in the district, all in Maricopa, with a total registered voter population of 113,260. The district has an overall population of 238,117. Following the 2020 United States redistricting cycle, the Redistricting in Arizona, Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission (AIRC) redrew legislative district boundaries in Arizona. According to the AIRC, the district is "Highly Competitive" politically. Eva Burch
Eva Burch is an American politician and nurse. Burch was elected in 2022 to serve in the Arizona State Senate representing District 9 as a member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party. Burch defeated Republican Robert Scantlebury in the general election, one of several legislative candidates who had been endorsed by President Donald Trump in Arizona. Education Burch attended the Pima Medical Institute, and began a career in emergency nursing in 2012, later obtaining her master's degree and nurse practitioner credentials. The Arizona State Senate is part of the Arizona Legislature, the state legislature of the US state of Arizona. The Senate consists of 30 members each representing an average of 219,859 constituents (2009 figures). Members serve two-year terms with term limits that limit Senators to four terms for a total of eight years. Members of the Republican Party are currently the majority in the Senate. There is currently 16 women serving in the Senate after Raquel Terán was appointed, making it the first time a majority of the body was composed of female members. As with the Arizona House of Representatives, members to the Senate are elected from the same legislative districts as House members, however one Senator represents the constituency, while for the House there are two Representatives per district.
