Ranchi Rays (RCR) is an Indian field hockey team based in Ranchi, Jharkhand that competes in the Hockey India League (HIL). It was announced as the newest team to replace the defunct Ranchi Rhinos on 25 October 2014. It is owned by Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. History In September 2014 it was announced that the inaugural champions of the Hockey India League, Ranchi Rhinos, had withdrew from the league after the owners, Patel-Uniexcel Group, had come to a disagreement with Hockey India over some differences. A month later it was announced that a new ownership group made of Indian conglomerate Individuals, Rahul Srivastava, and current India cricketer, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, had bought the franchise rights to a new Ranchi franchise which they named the Ranchi Rays. Ashley Jackson (field Hockey)
Ashley Steven Jackson (born 27 August 1987) is an English field hockey player who plays club hockey as a defender or midfielder for Old Georgians'. He represented the England and Great Britain national teams from 2006 until 2021. In December 2014 Jackson began playing ice hockey for Invicta Dynamos, scoring a goal on his debut against London Raiders. In June 2017, together with his brother, Wesley Jackson, he founded Jackson coaching. Club career Jackson plays club hockey in the Men's England Hockey League Premier Division for Old Georgians', whom he joined in 2019. Barry Middleton
Barry John Middleton (born 12 January 1984) is regarded as one of the greatest British field hockey players in history. He played as a midfielder and forward for England and Great Britain and is the most capped British hockey player in history and captained his country for many years. Middleton was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2020 New Year Honours for services to hockey. Club career Middleton plays club hockey in the Men's England Hockey League Premier Division for Holcombe. Jan Christopher Rühr (born 19 December 1993) is a German field hockey player who plays as a forward for Rot-Weiss Köln and the Germany national team.
