Ramanlal Vasantlal Desai
Ramanlal Vasantlal Desai (12 May 1892 – 20 September 1954) was an Indian Gujarati language writer. He is considered as an important figure of the Gujarati literature as well as Gujarati novel writing. He wrote 27 novels, among which, ''Bharelo Agni'' and ''Gramalakshmi'' are considered to be his magnum opus. His other notable and massive work is ''Apsara'', essays divided in five volumes which is based on the life of prostitutes. He was awarded Ranjitram Suvarna Chandrak in 1932. Life Desai was born on 12 May 1892 in Sinor, a village located on the bank of Narmada river to Vasantlal and Manibai. His family was a native of Kalol of Panchmahal district. Sinor, Gujarat
Sinor or Shinor (formerly Senapur/Sainyapur) is a small town in Vadodara District, Gujarat, India. Situated on the banks of river Narmada, it is known as the birthplace of one of the most prolific Gujarati writers, Ramanlal Vasantlal Desai. It is also believed that Sayajirao Gayakwad visited Sinor and Met Shree Lallubhai Zaverbhai Patel of Bhekhada Village. Natives in this village speak Gujarati as their first language. Jayshankar Sundari
Jaishankar Bhudhardas Bhojak, (30 January 1889 – 22 January 1975) better known by his theatre name Jaishankar Sundari , was an Indian actor and director of Gujarati theatre. Starting at the young age, he rose to fame for his roles of female impersonator in early Gujarati plays. He retired from acting in 1932 but returned to theatre direction and teaching in 1948. He directed and acted in several successful plays. He was awarded the Ranjitram Suvarna Chandrak in 1951 and the Padma Vibhushan in 1971. Govardhanram Madhavram Tripathi (; 20 October 1855 – 4 January 1907) was an Indian Gujarati language novelist of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is known for his four volume novel, '' Saraswatichandra'', acclaimed as one of the masterpieces of Gujarati literature.
