Counter Admiral Rafig Asgarov ( az, Rafiq Əsgərov) was the Commander of the Azerbaijani Naval Forces since the restoration of the independence of Azerbaijan in 1991. Rafig Farzi oglu Babayev ( az, Rafiq Farzi oğlu Babayev, 31 March 1937 – 19 March 1994) was an Azerbaijani jazz musician, composer, conductor, arranger, author of scores for films, and People's Artist of Azerbaijan (1993). Biography Rafig Babayev, one of the Azerbaijani coryphaeus, was born on March 31, 1936, in Baku, in a large musical family. Rafig's father, Farzi Babayev, was imprisoned by Soviet authorities and he was brought up by mother, Shahbeyim, in poverty, together with his three sisters and brother. Four children of the family, including Rafig Babayev, later became professional musicians. Rafig Babayev got his first musical education at a special musical school (1943–1950) and later entered fortepiano class of Baku Musical School named after Asaf Zeynally (1950–1954). Rafig Yasin oglu Bayramov ( az, Rafiq Yasin oğlu Bayramov; born November 10, 1972) is an Azerbaijani politician, currently serving as Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan (2018-2020). Life and education Rafig Bayramov was born on November 10, 1972, in Baku. He graduated from secondary school №10 in Baku with honor medallion in 1989. He got admitted into Baku State University in 1990 and graduated from the university with honors diploma in 1995. Rafig Hajiyev (russian: Рафик Гаджиев, az, Rafiq Hacıyev, born 1946) is a retired Soviet freestyle wrestler of Azerbaijani origin. He held the Soviet and European titles in 1970, and won silver medals at the 1973 European and 1974 world championships. He retired from competitions in 1976 and then had a long career as a police officer, reaching the rank of colonel. He remained active in wrestling as a coach. Rafig Huseynov
Rafig Huseynov ( az, Rafiq Hüseynov; born 16 May 1988) is an Azerbaijani people, Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler. He defeated Hungarian Péter Bácsi for the gold medal in his respective division at the 2011 European Wrestling Championships in Dortmund, Germany. He won one of the bronze medals in his event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. In 2021, Rafig became the world champion; and in 2022 he was a three-time European champion. He received the honorary title of the People's Artist of the Azerbaijani SSR in 1990, and was awarded the State Prize of the Azerbaijani SSR in 1991. Early life Rafig Eyyub oglu Huseynov was born on 4 August 1946, in Shusha of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast, the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic, Azerbaijani SSR, which was then part of the Soviet Union. Born into a merchant family, he grew up in Baku, and lost his father at an early age. Huseynov entered the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts, Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts and graduated from there in 1976. Azimzade art college (1962), then as a dean at Azerbaijan State Art Institute, and as a teacher at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts.
