Rafig Hashimov - "Honored Artist of Azerbaijan", announcer of AzTV, tele-journalist, essayist, director. Early life and education Hashimov Rafig Mahammad was born in 1966. He graduated from “Television and radio equipment” faculty of Baku Communication Electronics technical school in 1985. He served in the Soviet Army in 1985–1987. Career In 1987, has started to work at Azerbaijan State Tele-radio Broadcast Company as technician. Afterwards, he worked as videographer, erector. Since 1990, works as an announcer. In 1997, has graduated “Journalism” faculty of Baku State University. During these years, he was an announcer of “News”, different state events, “XX century” author program, “Morning” program. He trained the announcers from “Space”, “Leader” and “Khazar” channels with their speeches, taught speech culture at “Khazar” university for 4 years. Sattar Bahlulzade ( az, Səttar Bəhlulzadə; 15 December 1909 – 14 October 1974) was an Azerbaijani painter, best known for his landscape paintings depicting the nature of Azerbaijan. He is considered to be the founder of Azerbaijani Impressionism. Among Bahlulzade's best-known works are ''Tears of Kapaz'' (1965), ''Bank of the Gudiyalchay'' (1953), ''Dream of the Land'' (1961), ''Evening Above the Caspian Sea'' (1959), and ''Goygol'' (1964). His works have been featured in exhibitions in Azerbaijan, the Soviet Union, and other parts of the world. The majority of Bahlulzade's body of work is preserved in the National Art Museum of Azerbaijan, where a special hall is dedicated to the artist. The Union of Azerbaijani Writers ( az, Azərbaycan Yazıçılar Birliyi) is the largest public organization of Azerbaijani writers, poets and publicists. It has over 1500 members at present. It was founded on June 13, 1934, when Azerbaijan was a part of the Soviet Union as the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic. History Prior to 1934, Azerbaijani writers grouped in variety of literary unions. In 1923, a group of writers formed the "İldırım" United Organization of Turkic Publicists and Poets. Later, in 1925, another organization known as "Qızıl qələmlər" (''Golden Pens'') was established uniting most writers and regularly conducting literary gathering events. Baku State University (BSU) ( az, Bakı Dövlət Universiteti (BDU)) is a public university located in Baku, Azerbaijan. Established in 1919 by the Parliament of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the university started with faculties of history and philology, physics and mathematics, and law and medicine, with an initial enrollment of 1094. The first rector of BSU was V.I.Razumovsky, a former professor of surgery at Kazan University. In 1930, the government ordered the university shut down in accordance with a reorganization of higher education, and the university was replaced with the Supreme Pedagogical Institute.
