Carlos Quintanilla
Carlos Quintanilla Quiroga (22 January 1888 – 8 June 1964) was a Bolivian general who served as the 37th president of Bolivia on a provisional basis from 1939 to 1940. Quintanilla saw action in the initial stages of the Chaco War (1932–1935) and managed to ascend the echelon of the Bolivian armed forces until he became commander of the army during the administration of Germán Busch. When President Busch committed suicide on 23 August 1939, Quintanilla declared himself Provisional President of the Republic. Though Quintanilla had ambitions of exercising a longer government, pressure from both the left and right-wings of the political spectrum forced him to call general elections on 10 March 1940. Eleuterio Quintanilla Prieto (24 October 1886 in Gijon, Spain – 18 January 1966 in Bordeaux, France) was an Asturian/Spanish anarchist and freemason, educator and pupil of Francisco Ferrer Guardia. Quintanilla was a central member of the CNT and lived in Spain until the end of the Spanish Civil War, when he went into exile in France where he died. Omar Quintanilla (born October 24, 1981) is an American former professional baseball infielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Rockies (2005–2009), Texas Rangers (2011), New York Mets (2012, 2013-2014) and Baltimore Orioles (2012). Early life Quintanilla attended Socorro High School in El Paso, Texas, where he played with fellow teammate DR Melo. Quintanilla led the city of El Paso in home runs, RBI, and was elected to the Texas All-State shortstop. Norberto "Beto" Quintanilla Iracheta (May 23, 1948 – March 18, 2007) was a Regional Mexican singer and songwriter. He was known as "El Mero León del Corrido" (The Lion of the Corrido). Enrique Perea Quintanilla (1956 – August 9, 2006) was a Mexican journalist, veteran crime reporter, and founder of the magazine ''Dos Caras, Una Verdad'' ("Two Sides, One Truth"), a monthly investigative magazine specializing in reporting homicides and drug trafficking activities in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. He had 20 years of experience as an investigative journalist and crime reporter, and worked for two local newspapers before deciding to create his own in 2005. His work encompassed a series of investigative reports on drug-related murders, political corruption, and the local drug trade. Antonio Quintanilla ( Pámanes, Spain; 1787 - † Almería, Spain; 1863) was a Spanish brigadier and Governor of Chiloé from 1820–1826. He was the last royalist to hold the position. Background Quintanilla was the son of Francisco de Quintanilla and Teresa Herrera y Santiago, who were members of distinguished families in the Spanish region of Pámanes. He was born November 14, 1787. He married Antonia Álvarez de Garay, the daughter of Captain Francisco alvarez and Bartola Garay. Governor of Chiloé As a governor of Chiloé, Quintanilla ordered in 1824 the construction of Fuerte Real de San Carlos. He is also noted for defeating General Ramón Freire's first attempt to liberate Chiloé in 1825 after he dissolved the Chilean congress by force.
