Qing (concept)
In Chinese philosophy, ''qing'' () is a concept translated variously as "emotion", "feeling", "sentiment", or "passion". In Confucianism In Confucian thought, ''qing'' is interpreted as the behavioural quality of a person given their context, which may be bettered through the cultivation of ''ren'' (humaneness), '' li'' (ritual propriety), and '' yi'' (righteousness) to build '' de'', or virtuous moral character. Confucian scholars, such as Han Yu, traditionally identified seven basic emotions ( ), named in the Book of Rites as happiness (), anger (), grief (), fear (), love (), hate (), and desire (). Chinese Philosophy
Chinese philosophy originates in the Spring and Autumn period () and Warring States period (), during a period known as the " Hundred Schools of Thought", which was characterized by significant intellectual and cultural developments. Although much of Chinese philosophy begun in the Warring States period, elements of Chinese philosophy have existed for several thousand years. Some can be found in the '' I Ching'' (the ''Book of Changes''), an ancient compendium of divination, which dates back to at least 672 BCE. Xin (heart-mind)
In Chinese philosophy, ''xin'' () refers to the "heart" and "mind". Literally, ''xin'' refers to the physical heart, though it also refers to the "mind" as the ancient Chinese believed the heart was the center of human cognition. However, emotion and reason were not considered as separate, but rather as coextensive; ''xin'' is as much cognitive as emotional, being simultaneously associated with thought and feeling. For these reasons, it is also often translated as "heart-mind". It has a connotation of intention, yet can be used to refer to long-term goals. Ganqing
''Gǎnqíng'' () literally means "feel" (''Gǎn'', 感) "affection" (''Qíng'', 情) and together the term is often translated as "feelings" or "emotional attachment". ''Gǎnqíng'' refers to a friendship-like feeling that develops between two people, groups, or business partners as their relationship deepens. Zhuangzi (book)
The ''Zhuangzi'' ( Chinese: , historically romanized ''Chuang Tzŭ'') is an ancient Chinese text from the late Warring States period (476221) which contains stories and anecdotes that exemplify the carefree nature of the ideal Taoist sage. Named for its traditional author, "Master Zhuang" ( Zhuangzi), the ''Zhuangzi'' is one of the two foundational texts of Taoism, along with the ''Tao Te Ching''. Zhuang Zhou
Zhuang Zhou (), commonly known as Zhuangzi (; ; literally "Master Zhuang"; also rendered in the Wade–Giles romanization as Chuang Tzu), was an influential Chinese philosopher who lived around the 4th century BCE during the Warring States period, a period of great development in Chinese philosophy, the Hundred Schools of Thought. Neo-Confucianism
Neo-Confucianism (, often shortened to ''lǐxué'' 理學, literally "School of Principle") is a moral, ethical, and metaphysical Chinese philosophy influenced by Confucianism, and originated with Han Yu (768–824) and Li Ao (772–841) in the Tang Dynasty, and became prominent during the Song and Ming dynasties under the formulations of Zhu Xi (1130–1200).
