''Quincannon, Frontier Scout'' is a 1956 American Western film directed by Lesley Selander and written by John C. Higgins and Don Martin. The film stars Tony Martin, Peggie Castle, John Bromfield, John Smith and Ron Randell. The film was released in May 1956, by United Artists. Plot Linus Quincannon, formerly a captain in the 7th Cavalry and a fine scout, left the Army in disgust over the way the Indians were being treated by the government before the Battle of the Little Bighorn, in particular at the Battle of Washita. His former commanding officer, Colonel Conover, calls him back to duty to help him solve the mystery of how the Arapahoes had learned of a secret shipment of Henry repeating rifles and ammunition intended to arm the troopers of his regiment, and stolen them. Lesley Selander
Lesley Selander (May 26, 1900 – December 5, 1979) was an American film director of Western (genre), Westerns and adventure film, adventure movies. His career as director, spanning 127 feature films and dozens of TV episodes, lasted from 1936 to 1968. Before that, Selander was assistant director on films such as ''The Cat and the Fiddle (film), The Cat and the Fiddle'' (1934), ''A Night at the Opera (film), A Night at the Opera'' (1935), and Fritz Lang's ''Fury (1936 film), Fury'' (1936). To this day Selander remains one of the most prolific directors of feature Westerns in cinema history, having taken the helm for 107 Westerns between his first directorial feature in 1936 and 1967. Crow People
The Crow, whose autonym is Apsáalooke (), are Native Americans living primarily in southern Montana. ''The Girl in Black Stockings'' is an American B movie mystery film released by United Artists in 1957. Directed by Howard W. Koch, it stars Lex Barker, Anne Bancroft, and Mamie Van Doren. Plot A lodge in Kanab, Utah, is where Los Angeles lawyer David Hewson goes for a peaceful vacation. Peter Mamakos
Peter Mamakos (December 14, 1918 – April 27, 2008) was an American film and television actor. Early life Mamakos was of Greek descent. Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, he attended Somerville High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society, The Players Club (drama society), and the Boys Glee Club. Mamakos' father owned Pilgrim restaurants in New England. Mamakos was sent to California to scout locations for restaurants, but he liked Hollywood so much that he decided to stay, declining his father's offers of $50,000 in cash and a $250,000 nightclub of his own if he returned to Boston. He told a reporter, "I feel right at home in Hollywood. A hot kitchen and a hot sound stage are alike – you're surrounded by hams in both." Morris Ankrum (August 28, 1897 – September 2, 1964) was an American radio, television, and film character actor. Early life Ankrum was born in Danville in Vermilion County in eastern Illinois, and pursued a career in law. After graduating from The University of Southern California, he went on to an associate professorship in economics at the University of California, Berkeley.
