Reggaeton (, ), also known as reggaetón and reguetón (), is a music style that originated in Panama during the late 1980s. It was later popularized in Puerto Rico. It has evolved from dancehall and has been influenced by American Hip hop music, hip hop, Latin American music, Latin American, and Caribbean music. Machete Music is an urban music label owned by Universal Music Group. The record label had been largely associated with reggaeton music, but in recent years, it has been also been signing non-reggaeton artists such as Malverde, Mala Rodriguez and Chino XL. The label is part of Universal Music Latin Entertainment. Machete Music is one of the most prevalent labels in the Reggaeton genre. According to Toy Selectah (also known as Toy Hernández, A&R of the label from 2004 to 2007), its president Gustavo López "suggested the name Machete, in part because of Control Machete, Hernández's former band". VI Music is a Puerto Rican record label specializing in the reggaeton genre, founded by reggaeton producers Mario VI, Alex Gargolas and Juan Vidal. The record label came to prominence after securing a joint venture with Universal Latino and Machete Music. Their albums include gold and platinum productions such as "The Last Don" and "King of Kings" by Don Omar, Barrio Fino by Daddy Yankee, " A La Reconquista" and " La Historia: Live" by Tito y Hector, "Los MVP" by Khriz y Angel and " Sin Limite" by Magnate y Valentino among many others. Eliel Lind Osorio (born January 7, 1981 in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico), best known only as Eliel, is a Latín Music, ballad, reggaeton, and urban producer. His partnership with Don Omar has led him to critical acclaim and commercial success. Biography He was raised by his grandparents that would later help him achieve his greatest dream, to be the best producer in the industry. He began as a musician in the 1st Baptist Church in Loiza, Puerto Rico as a percussionist. It is then that his mother makes him learn the piano since the church's choir was missing a pianist. He already dominated the bongo, drums, and the congas. Although he was reluctant to learn the piano, it was thanks to this great instrument that he stood out among all other producers.
