Queensway Terrace South
Queensway Terrace South is a neighbourhood in College Ward in the west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It used to be part of Queensway Terrace but in 1967, Highway 417 was built and split apart into Queensway Terrace North and South. College Ward
College Ward or Ward 8 (French: ''Quartier Collège'') is a city ward in Ottawa, Canada's west end. The ward covers the neighbourhoods of Bells Corners, Qualicum, Graham Park, Leslie Park, Redwood, Kenson Park, Parkway Park, Bel-Air Park, Bel-Air Heights, Braemar Park, Copeland Park, Briargreen, Centrepointe, Navaho, City View, Ryan Farm, Meadowlands and Crestview. Prior to the 2006 election, College Ward was known as Baseline Ward, and didn't include Bells Corners. It was incorporated into the city with amalgamation in 2001 (elections were held in 2000). Previously, the ward existed on the earlier Ottawa-Carleton Regional Council. The ward is represented on city council by Rick Chiarelli. Briargreen is a suburban neighbourhood located in College Ward in the west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Prior to amalgamation in 2001 it was located in the City of Nepean. The borders of the neighbourhood are Pinecrest Cemetery to the north, Centrepointe to the east, Craig Henry to the south, and Greenbank Road to the west. Centrepointe
Centrepointe is a neighbourhood in College Ward in the west end of the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was formerly part of the city of Nepean, Ontario, Nepean. It is a newer residential subdivision in the west/central part of Ottawa, developed from 1984 onwards, and is informally bounded by Baseline Road (Ottawa), Baseline Road to the north, Woodroffe Avenue (Ottawa), Woodroffe Avenue to the east, the Canadian National Railway, CN railroad to the south, and the Briargreen subdivision and Forest Ridge Apartments to the west. The housing stock includes approximately 1,000 detached homes, with the remainder mostly townhomes (row houses) and terrace homes. Leslie Park is a suburban neighbourhood in College Ward in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the former city of Nepean. Leslie Park is bounded on the north by Baseline Road, on the east by Greenbank Road and on the south by the OCRR. Baseline Road (Ottawa)
Baseline Road ( Ottawa Road #16) is a road in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Baseline runs from Richmond Road (almost directly over Highway 416) east in a straight line until it ends at the Heron Road Bridge over the Rideau River and Rideau Canal when it becomes Heron Road. Before the 2001 City of Ottawa amalgamation, Baseline formed the border of the city of Ottawa and Nepean. The street is named for its location as the baseline for Nepean Township. When Nepean Township was surveyed, Baseline formed the northern boundary of Nepean's six north–south concessions. Currently, Baseline is a major east–west street, and in the late 1990s it became so busy that Hunt Club Road had to be extended west of the Rideau River to alleviate pressure. Queensway Terrace North
Queensway Terrace North (QTN) is a neighbourhood in Bay Ward in the west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Its neighbourhood association is bounded to the north by Carling Avenue, to the west by Pinecrest Road, to the south by the Queensway ( Highway 417), and to the east by the Transitway. These boundaries include the adjacent neighbourhood of Britannia Heights. History A few people first settled in the neighbourhood in the late 1800s closer to Britannia. Most of the homes, however, were built in the 1950s and early 1960s. In 1956 the Campeau Corporation acquired 114 acres of the Arkell farm on Pinecrest Road. King's Highway 417, commonly referred to as Highway 417 and as the Queensway through Ottawa, is a 400-series highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. It connects Ottawa with Montreal via A-40, and is the backbone of the highway system in the National Capital Region. Within Ottawa, it forms part of the Queensway west from Highway 7 to Ottawa Road 174.
