Foster Farm, nicknamed "the Farm", is a neighbourhood in the Britannia area of Bay Ward in the west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is roughly bounded to the north by Richmond Road, to the east by Pinecrest Road, to the west by the former Ottawa/Nepean city limits and the south by the Highway 417, the Queensway. It is bordered by Fairfield Heights, Queensway Terrace North, Redwood, Michele Heights. The total population of this area according to the 2016 Canada Census was 3,636. Richmond Road (Ontario)
Richmond Road is a major road in Eastern Ontario, Canada. Richmond Road begins as a western continuation of Wellington Street West in Ottawa, beyond the intersection at Island Park Drive, a division point moved west a few blocks from Western Avenue, the historical township boundary, in 2005. It serves as the primary road for Westboro. Continuing westward, the road passes by Ottawa landmarks such as the Lincoln Fields Mall, Bayshore Shopping Centre and Queensway Carleton Hospital. At the intersection with Baseline Road, it gives way to Robertson Road just before reaching Bells Corners, due to a name change made in 2012. At the historical corner, the prior route of Richmond Road diverges to the south as a mostly residential street named Old Richmond Road. Qualicum-Graham Park
Qualicum-Graham Park or Qualicum is a suburban neighbourhood in College Ward in the City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the former City of Nepean in the west end of the city. Many of the residences in the area are executive homes situated on large lots (100x100) being built in the 1960s. Qualicum Street boasts large custom houses built by Bill Teron. The neighbourhood is bounded to the north by the Queensway, to the west by Richmond Road, to the south by Baseline Road, and to the east by Morrison Drive at the former Ottawa-Nepean border towards Redwood. Bayshore Shopping Centre is a major shopping mall located in the Nepean district of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The mall is one of the busiest in the National Capital Region as it attracts almost 8 million visitors per year from across the city and the surrounding region. Ruth Wildgen
Ruth Wildgen, née Besharah (1921 – September 11, 1999) was a Canadian politician and activist. She represented Britannia Ward on Ottawa City Council and the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton, Ottawa-Carleton Regional Council from 1985 to 1988. Wildgen was born in 1921 in Saskatchewan, the second of eight children of Lebanon, Lebanese immigrants. The family moved to Almonte, Ontario when she was three. Wildgen married her husband Francis in 1952, but would later be estranged from him. In 1974, two of her children were making candles in the basement when a fire erupted that led to her house at 1146 Merivale Road being burnt down, forcing her and her children into public housing. Wildgen was the founder of the Foster Farm Soup Kitchen and the Foster Farm Food Co-operative. Britannia Heights
Britannia Heights is a neighbourhood in Bay Ward in west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The neighbourhood is a sub-neighbourhood of Britannia area of the city, but is within the Queensway Terrace North Community Association boundaries. The neighbourhood is away from the Ottawa River on a steep hill. It is bounded to the North by Carling Avenue, east by OC Transpo Transitway, south by Henley Street, and west by Bayshore Drive. The population of the neighbourhood is approximately 1750. The first land entrepreneur in the community was William Mosgrove whose registered plan in 1908 paved the way for 47 average-sized lots on Pinecrest Road and a parallel street named St. Louis (now Pinewood Crescent.) Most of the homes were built between the 1930s to the 1960s. After 1970, many townhouses and condominiums were built until the 1980s. 2016 Canada Census
The 2016 Canadian census was an enumeration of Canadian residents, which counted a population of 35,151,728, a change from its 2011 population of 33,476,688. The census, conducted by Statistics Canada, was Canada's seventh quinquennial census. The official census day was May 10, 2016. Census web access codes began arriving in the mail on May 2, 2016. The 2016 census marked the reinstatement of the mandatory long-form census, which had been dropped in favour of the voluntary National Household Survey for the 2011 census. With a response rate of 98.4%, this census is said to be the best one ever recorded since the 1666 census of New France. This census was succeeded by Canada's 2021 census. Redwood, Ottawa
Redwood is a neighbourhood located in Ottawa's west end. The boundaries of the neighbourhood is Greenbank Road to the east, Baseline Road to the south, Morrison Drive (old Ottawa-Nepean, Ontario, Nepean border line) to the west and Highway 417 (Ontario), Highway 417 to the north. Its sister neighbourhoods are Qualicum (Nepean), Qualicum, Leslie Park, and Queensway Terrace. Residential areas and community housing The majority of residents live in apartments and townhouses located on the east and west ends of the neighbourhood. Queensway Terrace North
Queensway Terrace North (QTN) is a neighbourhood in Bay Ward in the west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Its neighbourhood association is bounded to the north by Carling Avenue, to the west by Pinecrest Road, to the south by the Queensway ( Highway 417), and to the east by the Transitway. These boundaries include the adjacent neighbourhood of Britannia Heights. History A few people first settled in the neighbourhood in the late 1800s closer to Britannia. Most of the homes, however, were built in the 1950s and early 1960s. In 1956 the Campeau Corporation acquired 114 acres of the Arkell farm on Pinecrest Road.
