Qatar National Convention Centre
The Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) is located in Gharafat Al Rayyan, on the Dukhan Highway in Doha, Qatar. The convention centre is a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development and is situated on Qatar Foundation’s 2,500-acre campus alongside the Sidra Medical and Research Center, Qatar Science & Technology Park, Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, Texas A&M, and Georgetown University, among others. QNCC was officially opened on 4 December 2011. It was the first of its kind being built to the gold certification standard of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED). Designed by Arata Isozaki in partnership with RHWL Architects, the building is designed to operate efficiently with innovations such as water conservation and energy-efficient fixtures, and it is approximately 32 percent more efficient compared with a similarly designed building that lack such innovations. Qatar (, ; ar, قطر, Qaṭar ; local vernacular pronunciation: ), officially the State of Qatar,) is a country in Western Asia. Sidra Medical And Research Center
Sidra Medicine is a 400-bed women’s and children’s hospital, medical education and biomedical research center in Doha, Qatar. The hospital first opened its outpatient facility in 2016, followed by its inpatient hospital in January 2018. Location Sidra is located in Education City, a city-scale initiative by Qatar Foundation. This portion of Education City is located Al Gharrafa, which in turn is a district of Al Rayyan City in the Municipality of Al Rayyan in Qatar. Outside the hospital is a series of 14 giant bronze sculptures by Damien Hirst called The Miraculous Journey, graphically charting the development of a baby in the uterus from conception to birth. Qatar Science & Technology Park
Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) is a home for international technology companies in Qatar, and an incubator of start-up technology businesses. Inaugurated in March 2009 as a part of Qatar Foundation, the purpose of the science park is to spur development of Qatar's knowledge economy. At an investment of more than $800 million by Qatar Foundation, the QSTP also became Qatar's first free-trade zone. Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) is a branch of Weill Cornell Medicine of Cornell University, established on April 9, 2001 following an agreement between Cornell University and the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. It is located in Education City, Qatar, near the capital of Doha. WCM-Q has 318 students, 21 preliminary students, 97 pre-medical students, and 200 in its MD program.
