Pääskyvuori
Pääskyvuori (Finnish; ''Svalberga'' in Swedish) is a district in the Itäharju-Varissuo ward of the city of Turku, in Finland. It is located to the east of the city between Varissuo and Itäharju and is largely a low-density residential suburb. Pääskyvuori also includes the more densely built area of Laukkavuori. The name consists of the words , meaning 'swallow', and , meaning 'mountain'. The former television tower located in the district is the tallest free-standing structure (122 m) in the Turku area. The current () population of Pääskyvuori is 4,482, and it is increasing at an annual rate of 0.18%. 20.91% of the district's population are under 15 years old, while 13.43% are over 65. These are composed of individual suburbs, and in the very centre of the city, sectors of the central business district are identified by Roman numerals. Itäharju-Varissuo (Finnish; ''Österås-Kråkkärret'' in Swedish) is a ward (, ) of Turku, Finland, also known as Ward 4. The ward is located to the east of the city and named after Itäharju and Varissuo, two major districts in the ward. Itäharju-Varissuo has a population of 27,883 () and an annual population decrease of 1.26%. 17.75% of the ward's population are under 15 years old, while 13.21% are over 65. Finnish Language
Finnish ( endonym: or ) is a Uralic language of the Finnic branch, spoken by the majority of the population in Finland and by ethnic Finns outside of Finland. Finnish is one of the two official languages of Finland (the other being Swedish). In Sweden, both Finnish and Meänkieli (which has significant mutual intelligibility with Finnish) are official minority languages. Finland Swedish or Fenno-Swedish ( sv, finlandssvenska; fi, suomenruotsi) is a general term for the variety of the Swedish language and a closely related group of Swedish dialects spoken in Finland by the Swedish-speaking population, commonly also referred to as Finland Swedes, as their first language. For the most part, these dialects and the dialects spoken in Sweden are mutually intelligible, although some archaic dialects in Ostrobothnia are practically unintelligible to Swedish-speaking people in southern Finland (and in Sweden). Turku
Turku ( ; ; sv, Åbo, ) is a city and former capital on the southwest coast of Finland at the mouth of the Aura River, in the region of Finland Proper (''Varsinais-Suomi'') and the former Turku and Pori Province (''Turun ja Porin lääni''; 1634–1997). Varissuo
Varissuo (Finnish; ''Kråkkärret'' in Swedish) is a district and the largest suburb of the city of Turku, in Finland. It is located seven kilometres to the east of the city centre, and is the easternmost major suburb of Turku, bordering on the neighbouring city of Kaarina. Varissuo has 9,000 inhabitants, the majority of whom are foreign immigrants. It is thus the second largest district of Turku, after Runosmäki. The name consists of the words , meaning 'crow' and , meaning 'marsh'. 15.72% of Varissuo's population are under 15 years old, while 12.56% are over 65. Itäharju
Itäharju ( sv, Österås) is a district in the Itäharju-Varissuo ward of the city of Turku, in Finland. It is located to the east of the city centre, and consists mostly of industrial area, brownfields and low-density residential area. Since the beginning of the 2000s the trend of renovating old industrial buildings to offices has sprawled over from the neighboring Kupittaa to Itäharju as well. Suburb
A suburb (more broadly suburban area) is an area within a metropolitan area, which may include commercial and mixed-use, that is primarily a residential area. A suburb can exist either as part of a larger city/urban area or as a separate political entity. The name describes an area which is not as densely populated as an inner city, yet more densely populated than a rural area in the countryside. Swallow
The swallows, martins, and saw-wings, or Hirundinidae, are a family of passerine songbirds found around the world on all continents, including occasionally in Antarctica.
