Public Relations Exercise were a Leicester, England based post-hardcore/alternative rock group. A five-piece combining aspects of math rock, layered with penetrative and socially observant lyrics. History The band began as a product of the development of bedroom songwriters Martin Smith and Lloyd Carter. From an early age, they worked on various projects with local drummer Danny Star, and with the later addition of Irish-born bassist, Tiernan Welch, and guitarist, Spencer Lee, their line-up was finalised in September 2005. Smalltown America
Smalltown America (STA) was a UK-based independent record label formed in 2001. Staff are currently based in London and Derry, and the label has a stated aim of "cultivating a productive staff of music lovers and a self-sustainable business model, through which artists can release the best records they can possibly produce." Originally set up by Jetplane Landing as the platform for their releases, the label has now released numerous albums by other acts, as well as nine ''Public Service Broadcast'' compilation CDs. The closure of the label was announced by founder Andrew Ferris on 24 November 2020. Lafaro
LaFaro were a four-piece alternative rock band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. They consisted of Jonny Black (guitar/vocals), Dave Magee (guitar), Herb Magee (Bass) and Alan Lynn (drums). History Formed in 2004 LaFaro have been described as: "old school post hardcore sounds with just drums, guitars and big chunky distorted bass...they are one of the finest Irish Alt-Rock bands you are likely to hear in quite a while". Once signed to Field Records, and while with the label released the well received "LaFaro EP" in 2006 containing the lead track "Tupenny Nudger". Turisas
Turisas is a Finnish metal band from Hämeenlinna. They were founded in 1997 by Mathias Nygård and Jussi Wickström, and named after an ancient Finnish god of war. Turisas are a folk metal band, incorporating elements of power metal and symphonic metal along with frequent harsh vocals. Turisas is known to play most of their solos on electric violin, as opposed to traditional guitar solos. ''Battle Metal'' (2004–2007) Since 2003, Turisas have been signed to Century Media records, which released their debut album ''Battle Metal'' in 2004. ''Drowned in Sound'', sometimes abbreviated to ''DiS'', is a UK-based music webzine financed by artist management company Silentway. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums.
