Praslin Island Airport
Praslin Island Airport also known as Iles des Palmes Airport, is an airport at Grand Anse on Praslin Island in the Seychelles. It is served by Air Seychelles, which flies scheduled flights to Mahé and charters to the other islands in the Seychelles. The airport has the capacity to handle over 1500 passengers daily and over half a million passengers annually. History During the late 1990s Praslin underwent an expansion to deal with increased passengers and larger planes. The airport was officially reopened on June 3, 2001. The cost of the renovation was around 40 million Seychellois rupees. Its head office is located at Seychelles International Airport on the island of Mahé and it operates inter-island and international flights and charter flights. Mahé is the largest island of Seychelles, with an area of , lying in the northeast of the Seychellean nation in the Somali Sea part of the Indian Ocean. Seychelles International Airport , or ''Aéroport de la Pointe Larue'' in French, is the international airport of the Seychelles located on the island of Mahé near the capital city of Victoria. The airport is the home base and the head office of Air Seychelles and features several regional and long-haul routes due to its importance as the gateway to a major international leisure destination. The airport is southeast of the capital and is accessible by the Victoria-Providence Highway. Transport In Seychelles
There are a number of modes of transport in Seychelles. Seychelles possesses transportation systems that include 453km of roads (of which 400km are paved), seaports, and airports. The country lacks railways. The main seaport is Victoria, and Seychelles has no merchant marine. There are fourteen airports in Seychelles, the major ones including Seychelles International Airport and Praslin Island Airport. Of the fourteen airports, six have runways that are paved. In rural areas, especially on La Digue, a popular way of public transport is by using ox-carts.
