Praslin
Praslin () is the second largest island (38.5 km2) of the Inner Seychelles, lying northeast of Mahé, Seychelles, Mahé. Praslin has a population of around 7,533 people and comprises two administrative districts: Baie Sainte Anne and Grand' Anse (Praslin), Grand' Anse. The main settlements are the Baie Ste Anne, Anse Volbert and Grand' Anse (Praslin), Grand' Anse. History It was named ''Isle de Palmes'' by explorer Lazare Picault in 1744. During that time it was used as a hideaway by Pirate, pirates and Arab merchants. In 1768 it was renamed ''Praslin'' in honor of French diplomat César Gabriel de Choiseul, duc de Praslin. Granitic Seychelles
The Granitic Seychelles are the islands in Seychelles which lie in central position on the Seychelles Bank and are composed of granite rock. They make up the majority of the Inner Islands, which in addition include the coral islands along of the rim of the Seychelles Bank, namely Bird Island and Denis Island. Vallée De Mai
Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve ("May Valley") is a nature park and UNESCO World Heritage Site on the island of Praslin, Seychelles. It consists of a well-preserved Arecaceae, palm forest, flagship species made up of the endemism, island endemic coco de mer, as well as five other endemic palms. The coco de mer (''Lodoicea maldivica''), a monocot tree in the Arecaceae (palm family), has the largest seeds (double nut seed) of any plant in the world. Also unique to the park is its wildlife, including birds such as the rare Seychelles black parrot, mammals, crustaceans, snails, and reptiles. Coco De Mer
''Lodoicea'', commonly known as the sea coconut, coco de mer, or double coconut, is a monotypic genus in the palm family. The sole species, ''Lodoicea maldivica'', is endemic to the islands of Praslin and Curieuse in the Seychelles. It has the largest seed in the plant kingdom. It was also formerly found on the small islets of St Pierre, Chauve-Souris, and Ile Ronde (Round Island), all located near Praslin, but had become extinct there for a time until recently reintroduced. Taxonomy The name of the genus ''Lodoicea'' is given by Philibert Commerson, it may be derived from ''Lodoicus'', a Latinised form of ''Louis'' (typically '' Ludovicus''), in honour of King Louis XV of France. Anse Georgette is a beach situated in the northwestern coast of Praslin, Seychelles. It is ranked among the top 10 best beaches in the world for 2024. Anse Lazio
Anse Lazio is a beach situated in the northwest of Praslin Island, Seychelles, considered by Lonely Planet to be the "best beach on Praslin", and one of the "best in the archipelago". Location Located to the north east of Madagascar, east of Zanzibar and south of Socotra, in the middle of the Indian Ocean, it has clear water and scenery which can be perceived as beautiful, which attracts a large portion of Praslin's tourists.
