Polona
Polona is a Polish digital library, which provides digitized books, magazines, graphics, maps, music, fliers and manuscripts from collections of the National Library of Poland and co-operating institutions. It began its operation in 2006. Collections As of October 12, 2017 there were 2016037 objects,Counter available at www.polona.pl (access:12.10.2017) of which 863400 were on public domain. Every day, the Polona adds up to 2,000 digitized objects. National Library Of Poland
The National Library ( pl, Biblioteka Narodowa) is the central Polish library, subject directly to the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland. The library collects books, journals, electronic and audiovisual publications published in the territory of Poland, as well as Polonica published abroad. It is the most important humanities research library, the main archive of Polish writing and the state centre of bibliographic information about books. Krasiński Library
Krasiński Library (''Biblioteka Krasińskich w Warszawie'') was a library in Warsaw, founded in 1844. During the German invasion and occupation of Poland, part of the building was destroyed and its collections were stolen, redistributed, or burned. Its surviving collections are now at the National Library of Poland. Patrimonium (project)
Patrimonium (full name Patrimonium – the digitalization and release of Polish national heritage from the collections of the National and Jagiellonian libraries) is a 3-year (2017–2020) project of digitization whose main aim is to provide wide and free access to the most valuable and oldest Polish written sources from the two largest libraries in Poland ( the National Library and the Jagiellonian Library). “Patrimonium” is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, sub-measure 2.3.2: “Digital sharing of cultural resources” of the “Digital Poland Operational Programme 2014–2020”, and by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland. Academica (library)
Academica is a Polish online interlibrary system providing access to digital documents of the National Library of Poland that includes both copyrighted material for registered users in selected libraries within Poland as well as free access to public domain material. Its scope is similar to that of Polona, the digital library of the National Library of Poland, and allows access to digitized periodicals, books, scores, and other library material within broad range of sciences and humanities. Warsaw Uprising
The Warsaw Uprising ( pl, powstanie warszawskie; german: Warschauer Aufstand) was a major World War II operation by the Polish underground resistance to liberate Warsaw from German occupation. It occurred in the summer of 1944, and it was led by the Polish resistance Home Army ( pl, Armia Krajowa). The uprising was timed to coincide with the retreat of the German forces from Poland ahead of the Soviet advance. While approaching the eastern suburbs of the city, the Red Army temporarily halted combat operations, enabling the Germans to regroup and defeat the Polish resistance and to destroy the city in retaliation. The National Museum of Ethnography (Polish: ''Państwowe Muzeum Etnograficzne w Warszawie'') is a museum of ethnography in Warsaw, Poland. It was established in 1888.
