Piper Race Cars
Piper Race Cars is an American racecar constructor. The company was founded by Don Sievenpiper in 1991. History Piper Race Cars was founded in 1991 by Don Sievenpiper. He designed the Piper DF2 to race in Formula Ford 1600 in 1992. The DF2 was followed by the DF3 in 1998. The Piper DF3 won the SCCA National Championship Runoffs in the Formula Ford class in 2010 and 2012 with Tim Kautz. In 2002 the DF3 was replaced by the DF5. Tim Kautz won 2 races in the F1600 Championship Series in Piper DF5 which placed him second in the championship. The Piper DF5 won the Runoffs in 2002 and 2003 in the Formula Ford class with Justin Pritchard. The runoffs were almost won again in 2004, but a bolt in the brakes came undone and the car went flying off the track. After that a Formula 2000 variation was made. Formula Ford 1600
Formula Ford 1600 is a number of championships which cater to 1600cc, Ford Kent powered Formula Ford racing cars. These are cars that were disbanded when the UK national Formula Ford category adopted the 1800cc Zetec engine in 1993. However, it has been running as several regional club championships ever since and has recently renewed success. Several cars constructed to Zetec rules have been converted to accept a Kent engine, as well as the Duratec powered cars that followed. SCCA National Championship Runoffs
The SCCA National Championship Runoffs is the end-of-year championship race meeting for Sports Car Club of America Club Racing competitors. Divisional champions and other top drivers from the SCCA's 116 regions are invited to participate at the Runoffs. National championships are awarded to the winners of each class. The Runoffs is regarded as the " Olympics of Amateur Road Racing." History The American Road Race of Champions (ARRC) began in 1964, as a non-championship round of the SCCA National Sports Car Championship. F1600 Championship Series
The F1600 Championship Series was created by the SCCA in 2011. The series is organized by Formula Race Promotions, the same organization which organizes the F2000 Championship Series, and sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing. It is a series whose champion is eligible for the Road to Indy Shootout provided the driver is of an eligible age, and has the necessary skills to operate such machine. The Series The class operates under the same rules as the SCCA Formula F. Formula 1000 (F1000) is an open wheel class of Formula car racing, with professional and amateur series worldwide. Formula 1000 gets its name from the 1000 cc (1.0 L) super-bike engine used to power a single seat, open wheel race car with fully adjustable wings and suspension.
