Pinecrest Station
Pinecrest is a Transitway station in Ottawa, Ontario, that began service on September 6, 2009. The name is due to the station's proximity to Pinecrest Road. On June 9, 2006, Then-Ottawa Mayor Bob Chiarelli announced an extension of the West Transitway that include a 1.8 kilometre stretch of transitway from Bayshore station to Pinecrest Road including the new station and located near the road previously served as a regular stop for westbound buses such as route 101. This is the first phase out of two that will see the West Transitway be connected to the Southwest Transitway. The first phase was expected to be completed by the end of 2006 but was completed in 2009 with work having started during the summer of 2007. Ottawa Transitway
The Transitway is a bus rapid transit (BRT) network operated by OC Transpo in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It comprises a series of bus-only roadways and reserved lanes on city streets and highways. The dedicated busways ensure that buses and emergency vehicles on the Transitway rarely intersect directly with the regular traffic, and make it possible for them to continue at full speed even during rush hour. OC Transpo operates a network of rapid routes which use the Transitway to connect communities with the O-Train light rail system. Additional bus routes also use segments of the Transitway. The Transitway opened in 1983 with five stations. The network expanded greatly to include over fifty stations at its peak. Bob Chiarelli
Robert Chiarelli (born September 24, 1941) is a Canadian politician. He was a Liberal member in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario who served from 1987 to 1997 and again from 2010 to 2018 who represented the ridings of Ottawa West and Ottawa West—Nepean. He was the Regional Chair of Ottawa-Carleton from 1997 to 2001 and was mayor of Ottawa from 2001 to 2006. He served in the provincial cabinets of Dalton McGuinty and Kathleen Wynne. Bayshore Station (Ottawa)
Bayshore is a station on the transitway in Ottawa, Ontario, served by OC Transpo buses. It is located in the western transitway section at the Bayshore Shopping Centre in the neighbourhood of Bayshore. Prior to its construction, buses used Woodridge Crescent and entered the shopping centre parking lot, which is prone to congestion and extensive delays. Due to no access to westbound Woodridge Crescent from Bayshore Drive northbound (except emergency vehicles), routes 11, 82, 57, and 173 have to travel around the shopping centre, on Richmond Road and Holly Acres Road, to enter the small bus-route access to the station. Eastbound trips of routes 11, 82, 57, and 173 travel on Woodridge Crescent eastbound, then on Bayshore Drive southbound, and then their regular route from Richmond Road onward. Nepean, Ontario
Nepean ( ) is a former municipality and now geographic area of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Located west of Ottawa's inner core, it was an independent city until amalgamated with the Regional Municipality of Ottawa–Carleton in 2001 to become the new city of Ottawa.
