''Panaqolus purusiensis'' is a species of catfish in the family Loricariidae. Francesca LaMonte (1895–1982) was a noted ichthyologist and a founding figure of the International Game Fish Association. Loricariidae
The Loricariidae is the largest family of catfish (order Siluriformes), with 92 genera and just over 680 species. Loricariids originate from freshwater habitats of Costa Rica, Panama, and tropical and subtropical South America. These fish are noted for the bony plates covering their bodies and their suckermouths. Several genera are sold as " plecos", notably the suckermouth catfish, ''Hypostomus plecostomus'', and are popular as aquarium fish. Macauã River is a river of Acre state in western Brazil, a tributary of the Iaco River. The river forms most of the southeast boundary of the Macauã National Forest, a sustainable use conservation unit created in 1988. Ancistrini
Ancistrini is a tribe of catfishes of the family Loricariidae. Most are restricted to tropical and subtropical South America, but there are also several genus (''Ancistrus'', '' Chaetostoma'', ''Hemiancistrus'' and ''Lasiancistrus'') in southern Central America. Fish are aquatic, craniate, gill-bearing animals that lack limbs with digits.
