PCM Community High School
The PCM High School is a rural public high school in Monroe, Iowa, United States. It is a part of the PCM Community School District, and made up of two consolidated schools from Prairie City and Monroe, serving the communities of Otley and Reasnor as well. It is a 2A school district in the heart of Iowa. History Sports In 1991, the Monroe Wildcats and the Prairie City Plainsmen consolidated to form the PCM Mustangs. In basketball, the boys' team won the last state 2A state championship played in Veterans Memorial Auditorium (2004) before it was moved to Wells Fargo Arena. In 2008, the high school boys' golf team won sectionals, districts, and the 2A golf state championship, with a total of 658 over the Gilbert Tigers with a team score of 659. In 2018, PCM the football team went undefeated (13-0) and made their first UNI-Dome appearance since the 2006 season. Veterans Memorial Auditorium (Des Moines)
Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center (formerly known as Veterans Memorial Auditorium) is a building located in Des Moines, Iowa, that is part of the Iowa Events Center. Named to honor the World War II veterans of Polk County, it opened on February 1, 1955. On May 22, 1956, Elvis Presley was the first major act to perform there while on tour of the upper Midwest. Elvis would perform in the auditorium twice more, on June 20, 1974, and his fourth to last concert ever on June 23, 1977. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a professional American football team based in Tampa, Florida. Brandon Myers (born September 4, 1985) is a former American football tight end. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at Iowa. Wells Fargo Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. Part of the Iowa Events Center, the arena opened on July 12, 2005, at a cost of $117 million. Named for title sponsor Wells Fargo, the arena replaced the aging Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center as the Des Moines area's primary venue for sporting events and concerts. The Heart of Iowa Conference is a high school athletic conference in central Iowa that dates back to the 1970s. Members are a mixture between 3A and 2A, the second- and third-largest classes. Current members History The conference was formed in 1966 by Ballard, Nevada, South Hamilton,Perry Community School and West Marshall after the disbanding of the Hawkeye Central Conference. In 1967, Carlisle, Johnston and North Polk joined, and in 1970, Roland–Story joined from the West Central Conference. As of 1992, the league had 10 schools in it.
