Pål Anders Ullevålseter
Pål Anders Ullevålseter (born 7 December 1968, in Oslo) is a Norwegian rally raid motorcycle rider. He came in second at the 2010 Dakar Rallye, captured the 2004 FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship and has won the Africa Eco Race twice. Dakar Rally He has competed in the Dakar Rally 11 times and was the first Norwegian to complete the race. His best result came in 2010 when he came in second, finishing just over an hour behind winner Cyril Despres. Africa Eco Race He won the Africa Eco Race in 2015 and 2016, dominating completely the races, and winning 16 stages. Prior to the 2016 edition, Ullevålseter had stated, his goal was not to win the race, but to raise as much money as possible for a school in Dakar, founded by Fabrizio Meoni, who died during the Dakar Rallye in 2005. 2011 Dakar Rally
The 2011 Dakar Rally was the 33rd running of the event. It was held in Argentina and Chile for the third successive time, and ran from 1 to 16 January. The Amaury Sport Organisation and the governments of Argentina and Chile agreed to a return to South America for the event on 23 March 2010. The rally concluded in Buenos Aires, with Vladimir Chagin of Russia achieving a record seventh victory in the truck division, at the wheel of his Kamaz, thus becoming the most successful driver in a single category in the history of the event. Nasser Al-Attiyah of Qatar and Timo Gottschalk of Germany won in the car division, giving Volkswagen their third successive victory in the car class. Enduro Riders
Enduro is a form of motorcycle sport run on extended cross-country, off-road courses. Enduro consists of many different obstacles and challenges. The main type of enduro event, and the format to which the World Enduro Championship is run, is a time-card enduro, whereby a number of stages are raced in a time trial against the clock. Time-keeping enduros In a traditional time-keeping enduro, riders leave together in groups or rows, and each row starts at a certain minute. The object of the event is to arrive at pre-defined checkpoints according to a strict schedule. Early or late arrivals result in the riders' scores being penalized. Throughout a day there will also be allocated periods for refuelling and servicing the machine. Merzouga Rally
Merzouga Rally is a rally raid that takes place in Morocco every year since 2010 at the beginning of October in the big dunes of Merzouga. It’s a five-day race plus prologue and a marathon stage in the desert. The stages are varied and around 200–300 km long. Navigation is the key and the competitors use the GPS Unik2, the same used on the Dakar Rally. Safety is important as well with the competitors using the Iritrack, the tracking system studied for the African rallies. Plus a professional medical staff with 4x4 ambulances and doctors on bike and quad along the track and heli-ambulance service. The Rallye des Pharaons (French for "Pharaohs Rally") was a rally-raid event that took place in Egypt between 1982 and 2015. Cairo was both the starting and finishing point at the foot of the pyramids of Giza, and the rally covered roughly around . It was similar in format to the Dakar Rally in that it took place in desert conditions and cars, trucks, and motorcycles were all permitted to compete. History The first Pharaohs Rally was held in 1982 from an idea of Jean-Claude Morellet. Gev Sella
Gev Teddy Sella is an Israeli-South African motorcycle rider. Career A native of Netanya, he has been riding on a motorcycle since he was five years old. He has two younger brothers, Tsuk and Suff. "The best thing I can do is to be on the bike. Whenever I can I do it. (…) Every time I can, I’m going on the bike", Sella stated during the 2017 Africa Eco Race. In July 2016, Sella came in second at the FIM Junior Cross-Country Rallies World Cup in Italy. This was during the 9th Sardegna Rally Race, which he finished 14th overall and second in Junior class. In August/September 2016, he raced at the Serres Rally in Greece, finishing in 19th place. Fabrizio Meoni
Fabrizio Meoni (31 December 1957 – 11 January 2005) was an Italian off-road and rallying motorcycle racer. He was a member of the KTM Factory Team. Biography Meoni was born in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy. Meoni was married and had two children, Gioele and Chiara. On May 22, 2021, his daughter Chiara died at the age of 18. Career He won the Dakar Rally in 2001 and 2002. According to the rally's organizers, Meoni was considered "one of the greatest rally-raid champions ever". He also won the Rallye des Pharaons in 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001. 2016 Africa Eco Race
The 2016 Africa Eco Race was the 8th edition of the rally-raid which replaced the Dakar Rally after its departure to South-America.
